While Gleyber Torres stayed in the game, Aaron Judge had to exit the field due to significant pain and discomfort in his bottom hand. However, before the Yankee fans could lose their minds, Judge came up with positive updates on his injury after undergoing CT, imaging scans and a brief meet with Dr Ahmad.

In the midst of a dominant run, losing captain Aaron Judge could have proven to be devastating for the New York Yankees. On Tuesday, Orioles starter Albert Suarez hit Judge on the bottom hand with his wild pitch, and the captain screamed in extreme pain. While he continued to play outfield, the Yanks eventually took him out of the game to avoid the risk of aggravation. Immediately after, Judge was sent for imaging and CT scans, followed by an in-person visit to Dr. Ahmad. Notably, the slugger previously broke his wrist in 2017 in a similar hit by a pitch incident, which led to a two-month absence. Hence, the fans’ concern was understandable. However, in a major sense of relief, the former AL-MVP dodged a massive bullet as his CT scans came back negative.
Aaron Judge confirmed the same in the post-game interview. The Yankees captain added that while he is pissed to be getting hit in such an unruly manner, he understands Suarez’s actions weren’t intentional. Judge admitted that he was scared at first, given his past injury concerns. He even tried to take swings in the cage and somehow stay in the game. However, the pain in the swollen area just made it impossible. Regardless, he is feeling much better after getting to know that his hand has not fractured whatsoever. “The CT scans came back negative, so we’re at a good spot. A big relief,” Judge said. Additionally, the captain intends to play on Wednesday, and he informed skipper Aaron Boone of the same. Meanwhile, Boone, who missed his son’s graduation upon hearing about Judge’s injury, is yet to make up his mind.
Aaron Boone Deems Judge’s Early Exit Vs Orioles Precautionary Move
As soon as Aaron Boone caught the wind of Aaron Judge taking a blow on his hand, he rushed to the Yankee Stadium, leaving his son’s graduation ceremony mid-way. Boone was off-duty as Brad Ausmus took charge as stand in skipper. That being said, upon late arrival, Boone took a stock of the situation.
He said in the post-game press conference that Aaron Judge was removed from the game as a precautionary measure. Aaron Boone wasn’t sure what Judge was dealing with and, hence, didn’t want to risk him for nothing, especially when the Yankees were winning. However, Juan Soto confirmed that Judge has some swelling, and the Yankees’ next step remains to be seen.
