Aaron Judge, the New York Yankees anchor and leader, has thus far faced challenging situations early into the 2024 season. Their runs and hits dried up from his bat as the drop-down in hitting order was likely to have worked against him. However, Friday offered a glimmer of hope.

The New York Yankees fetched an inspiring 2-0 win against the Detroit Tigers on Friday at the Yankee Stadium following a walk-off RBI from Anthony Rizzo before Aaron Judge set the platform with a single. That being said, following the game, the captain revealed that he is planning to make some adjustments to break off the offensive slump.

The New York Yankees’ struggling offense witnessed a late surge on Friday against the Detroit Tigers before fetching a 2-0 inspiring win. In the bottom of ninth inning, Judge set the stage with a single before Alex Verdugo and Giancarlo Stanton came through with the game-tying run. Anthony Rizzo further slammed a walk-off single to lead the Yanks to a thrilling victory. Meanwhile, despite creating scoring opportunities, Captain Aaron Judge wasn’t happy with his performance, which had been on a downward trend since the start of the season. In 122 at-bats, he’s hitting .197 with 6 home runs and 18 RBIs. To further add to the misery, Judge has been struck out for a record 40 times, which is the highest in the American League.

Hence, to curb the struggles, Aaron Judge confirmed in a post-game interview that he will be making some adjustments going forward. Judge added that right now, he’s missing pitches that deserved belting, and that is not the right way forward for him. “I’m going to make a couple of adjustments, and we’ll be right there,” Judge expressed confidence. Notably, Aaron Boone, the Yankees skipper, had earlier refused to switch Judge’s batting position with Juan Soto. Hence, it’s unclear momentarily as to what kind of adjustments Judge will embrace. Not to mention, the captain has been nursing a toe injury. Therefore, the team must weigh every adjustment carefully to ensure it does not cause excess strain on the slugger’s injured toe. Overall, Judge is a seasoned and proven slugger. He needs a couple of good series to break out, and it may happen sooner than later.

Aaron Boone Non-Committal To Switch Aaron Judge’s Hitting Order

This year, Aaron Judge was forced to make some adjustments into the outfield as well in the hitting order due to the addition of Juan Soto. Judge moved center field full time and also dropped down to third place in the hitting order. And given his early season struggle, it’s speculated that the adjustments are working against Judge.

Hence, Yankees skipper Aaron Boone was asked if he is considering restoring Aaron Judge back to no.2 in the hitting lineup, thus pushing down Soto to third. Boone was non-committal, saying he hadn’t had that conversation and would like to wait for a while to see if Judge bounces back eventually.
