Juan Soto and Shohei Ohtani are two top players of modern-day baseball. They are true superstars of the game in their own right. Fans love them and adore them. Wherever these guys play, the fans just fill the stands to watch them play. There is no doubt about how these superstars are very marketable. Moreover, these greats of the modern day are real strengths in their team’s offense. Like Scott Boras said about the Dominican slugger that, he is an offense in itself. Moreover, the Japanese phenom shocked the baseball world when Shohei signed with the Los Angeles Dodgers for a whopping $700 million deal over ten years in the offseason.

This deal broke several records, including the highest-paid athlete records and so on. Clearly, the Unicorn was the biggest free agent in the offseason. In the last three years, Shohei Ohtani won two American League MVPs. He is the only baseball player in history to win two MVPs with unanimous votes. On the other hand, Juan Soto joined the New York Yankees in the offseason. The NY side added him for a year with a lot of expectations. But the question is where Soto will go next year and how big his next contract in free agency will be.

As A Free Agent Next Year, Will Juan Soto Eclipse Shohei Ohtani’s Deal Of $700M?

There is a reason why the Japanese phenom is worth every penny of the $700m deal. When he is healthy, he performs like one of the top ten hitters as well as pitchers in the league. There is no other two-way player in MLB of Ohtani’s caliber. He often gets compared to the GOAT Babe Ruth. Moreover, with Shohei Ohtani, the Dodgers won’t have an empty seat in their ballpark because it’s “Sho-Time.” On the other hand, Juan Soto has a World Series victory on his impressive resume. He can add one more title to that if he helps the Yankees win “The Big Dance” this year.

However, so far, Ohtani has never been to the playoffs in MLB. Hence, Juan Soto, as a free agent at the end of this year, can demand a really big contract. Recently, Juan Soto said in an interview that as a kid he never thought about money. All he ever wanted was to play baseball. Moreover, he never thought he could be the highest-paid player in the MLB. Nevertheless, fans expect the Dominican superstar to sign one of the biggest contracts in the history of the game.

Recently, in an interview with The Athletic, Juan Soto mentioned he never really wanted to leave the Washington Nationals. A most memorable moment was in 2019 when the Dominican superstar helped the Nationals win their first-ever World Championship. He also won the Babe Ruth Award.

However, his move away from Washington was really an emotional one. He never wanted to leave that team. After all, they believed in him since he was a youngster. However, in 2022, the Nationals traded him to the San Diego Padres. Now, he has come to the Bronx. Can the best hitter in baseball bring back the glory days of the New York Yankees?
