Jazz Chisholm Jr, a two-day old Yankee, is already enjoying being a New York payer. The New York Yankees mid-skid trade acquisition scored his first hit on Sunday in the team’s 8-2 victory over the Boston Red Sox. Jazz also stole a base and scored a run in five at-bats.

That being said, Jazz Chisholm Jr appeared to be getting along well with the New York Yankees teammates during the series opener against Philadelphia Phillies. He went deep twice for the first time as a Yankee and had an interesting story to share involving captain and leading AL-MVP candidate Aaron Judge.

Jazz Chisholm Jr Vows To Never Use Aaron Judge’s Heavy Bat

The New York Yankees were pitted against the Phillies, who own the best record in MLB, for the series opener on Monday. However, while the matchup appeared tough, the Bronx Bombers made a mockery of Phillies pitching depth with a 14-4 dominating victory. While captain Aaron Judge logged his 39th home run of the season, his newest teammate, Jazz Chisholm Jr, also went deep twice. He recorded his first home run as a Yankee with a solo shot in the second inning. Moreover, after the Phillies’ desperate move of putting catcher Garrett Stubbs on the mound for the ninth inning, Jazz cooked up a notorious idea to use Aaron Judge’s bat, and the captain graciously obliged.

The move worked as Jazz Chisholm Jr slammed a two-run home run in the ninth inning to log his first multi-homer game for the New York Yankees. However, Chisholm learned his lesson and vowed never to pick up Aaron Judge’s bat ever again as it was unusually heavy. The bat was designed to match the captain’s bulky power, and a guy with Jazz’s physique certainly couldn’t get used to it. “Definitely not gonna use that again tomorrow, that bat was so heavy,” Chisholm said. Meanwhile, Chisholm Jr played third base for the first time in two seasons and felt relatively comfortable. He practiced extensively ahead of the first pitch and is confident of getting used to soon at infield. And Aaron Judge was also left impressed with the newest Yankee. He lauded Jazz’s electric energy and the big impact he caused in the mega 14-4 victory.

Meanwhile, the New York Yankees reinstated powerful slugger Giancarlo Stanton from injury just following recovery from hamstring strain. Stanton was out of action since June 22 and his rehab was further delayed by a week due to lack of build up. However, on Monday, Stanton finally made his way back to major and went 0-for-4 with a walk.

That being said, Jahmai Jones was designated for assignment to make space for Giancarlo Stanton on the active 40-man roster. Earlier, the Yankees also DFA’d J.D Davis to include trade piece Jazz Chisholm Jr following trade from Miami Marlins. Having said that, with 48 hours till left for trade deadline, the Yanks are expected to enforce more roster moves.
