After a painful wait of 15 years, the New York Yankees finally stepped foot into the World Series with the sole aim of clinching the 28th Championship ring and in less than 2 days, Game 1 of the seven-game series will kick off at the Dodgers Stadium.

Having said that, the New York Yankees have already achieved a lot of things coming off a 2023 season where they couldn’t even make it to the playoffs. However, regardless of the past, Yankee general manger Brain Cashman reaffirmed the franchise’s unwavering standards which is to never settle for anything less than a ring.

New York Yankees general manager Brian Cashman knows what’s at stake as his team heads into the 2024 World Series against the Los Angeles Dodgers. In an interview with MLB Network, Cashman didn’t mince words about the importance of winning the championship, especially after the Yanks’ 15-year absence from the Fall Classic. Cashman acknowledged the magnitude of winning a pennant but reminded everyone that the ultimate goal has always been to win a World Series. “The accomplishment of winning a pennant is spectacular in and of itself, but no one is designing anything. The truth is you want to win a world championship because that’s how you’re remembered,” Cashman said in a candid statement.

The pressure is immense, and Brain Cashman admitted that if the New York Yankees fall short, it will haunt them. Once the roster is set, Cashman’s role transitions to being a fan, leaving the team’s fate in the hands of manager Aaron Boone and the players. Reflecting on the situation, Cashman expressed the feelings that many in his position share. “You’re not considered perfect unless you’re actually hoisting that World Series trophy,” he further added. That being said, the Yankees have faced their share of criticism from fans over the years, particularly during their recent World Series drought. Despite finishing the 2024 season with the best record in the American League, the GM knows a loss to the Dodgers won’t silence critics, as the team still has noticeable weaknesses. But with a chance to prove doubters wrong, Cashman hopes the Bronx Bombers can finally deliver a championship to their ever-demanding fanbase.

Aaron Boone is heading into the 2024 World Series as a manager, but the last time he was part of the Fall Classic was in 2003 as a player under the legendary Joe Torre. Now, Torre, who led the Yankees to four World Series titles, has some advice for Boone as he looks to secure a championship in a different role.

Torre emphasized the importance of balancing analytics with intuition when managing high-stakes situations. “I know we get into all the analytics, especially this time of year, but I tell them not to give up on their instincts,” Torre said. He also touched on the culture of winning in the Yankees organization, where simply reaching the World Series isn’t enough.
