The New York Yankees, despite being the first team to log 50 wins this season, succumbed to a daunting losing streak before heading into the All-Star break. The team went 8-16 in the past 25 games, including a 7-series losing streak which fortunately ended with the Orioles series victory.

That being said, with the second half approaching, the New York Yankees are expected to embrace urgency before the postseason qualifications fall out of their reach. Amid criticism over its recent performance, Yankee manager Aaron Boone expressed faith and confidence in his team to shrug off the disappointment and make a roaring comeback.

The All-Star game concluded on Wednesday at Texas, with the American League winning 5-3 over the National League in the star-studded affair. Meanwhile, the New York Yankees will resume the second half of the season on the weekend with a three-game series against the Tampa Bay Rays. Undoubtedly, the Yanks will be eyeing to snap out of the losing streak and manager Aaron Boone believes the break will help the team rejuvenate for the better. While appearing on a podcast with Talkin Yanks, Boone admitted that losing the series finale to the Orioles last week was a bummer as they had the golden opportunity to sweep them. But it’s also important to acknowledge the brutal phase and try to get better in the future.

“It’s been a rough few weeks for us, acknowledge that and know we’ve got to play better,” Aaron Boone said. Moreover, the skipper added that the New York Yankees had positioned themselves in a good spot, and their fate, indeed, remains in their own hands. Additionally, Boone views the second half of the season as a fresh start, a chance for the Yankees to rewrite their narrative and demonstrate their true capabilities. Despite the setbacks, Boone remains confident that the Yanks can make a strong push for the playoffs. He believes that a series of good performances can build momentum and change their fortunes. Not only that, but by focusing on improvement, leveraging their strengths, and maintaining a positive attitude throughout, the manager is confident that the Bronx Bombers can author a successful second half of the season.

With New York Yankees being a subject of vile criticism following a brutal losing streak, starting pitcher Nestor Cortes hit back at the doubters with a sharp dig on the internet. Cortes posted a tweet wherein he acknowledged that wearing a pinstripe is a privilege and those who talk bad about the franchise are in reality desperate to be a part of it.

Nestor Cortes further added that the New York Yankees is a top team that finds themselves in playoff contention almost every year. “I’m blessed to be able to compete for a playoff spot and always be contenders at the end,” Cortes concluded. While it remains unclear as to whom the message was directed, it’s important for Cortes to channel the frustration into the right areas, i.e. on the field.
