Juan Soto, the New York Yankees superstar slugger, witnessed the Subway series experience for the first time in his six-year prolific MLB career. He slammed a home run in the top of the fifth inning to add the first runs on the boards for his team on Tuesday.

While Juan Soto’s home run ended up in a losing cause, he overall enjoyed hitting at Mets’ Citi Field. Meanwhile, Juan Soto also faced free agency questions as he was in Mets’ backyard. Since the Mets are being touted as potential landing spot for Soto next year, the slugger reacted on the linkup rumors.

New York Yankees star outfielder Juan Soto recently reacted to rumours linking him to the New York Mets in upcoming free agency. As the Subway Series between the Mets and Yanks commenced on Tuesday, Soto’s potential future in New York has become a hot topic among fans and analysts. Despite having a successful year in the Bronx, the generational star is expected to opt for free agency next year, where his agent, Scott Boras, aims to shatter market records. Soto’s market value is estimated at $500 million, which could make Soto the most expensive player in the average annual value list. That being said, while the Yanks are interested in extending Soto, the New York Mets are believed to be the biggest outside threat to the Bombers.

Meanwhile, as Juan Soto arrived at Citi Field, he was asked to share his thoughts on joining the Mets in 2025. However, Soto snubbed the question, saying he would like to deal with the contract situation in the off-season. “I’ll let [agent Scott Boras] do his thing. We’re going to see,” Soto said after the team’s 9-7 loss in the series opener. Needless to say, be it the Yankees or the Mets, both teams will face a financial crunch next off-season. While Yanks are already struggling with the luxury tax, Mets’ owner Steve Cohen is the reason why the tax rule exists in the first place. Hence, landing Soto would be a daunting task for both sides. But, the Yanks might have an edge as Soto is loving his experience in the Bronx. He has formed a bond with the team in no time and is expected to finish the year on a high.

New York Yankees generational star Juan Soto was all smiles despite his team going down 9-7 against the Mets in the Subway series opener. Soto slammed a homer which wasn’t enough to carry his team through the finish line. Regardless, the 25-year-old loved his time at the Citi Field and enjoyed the experience of Subway series.

“It was really cool. Tough loss, but good energy out there,” Juan Soto said after the game. He also opened up on the Yankees’ loss, saying it’s part and parcel of the season. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose. But the important thing is to learn from the setbacks and execute plans better the next time around.
