The New York Yankees had a terrible 2023 season. Albeit they had a deep bullpen, it was not enough to help the team make the postseason. The offense of the NY side was so weak after Aaron Judge got injured last year that it could not complement the bullpen depth. Moreover, several key pitchers sustained injuries as well. For instance, Carlos Rodon and Nestor Cortes failed to impress the fans last year because of injuries and subsequent poor performances that followed. After the 2023 season, the Bronx Bombers were planning to add a dependable starting pitcher. Moreover, the MLB insiders linked the Yankees with two such top starting pitchers available in the market.

At first, it was the Japanese ace pitcher Yoshinobu Yamamoto. The Japanese superstar could have made his MLB debut with the Yankees. But he chose the team from the West Coast, the Los Angeles Dodgers. The other superstar starter available in the market is Blake Snell. The insiders have linked the Pinstripes and Snell since the start of the offseason. However, there has been no confirmation about Snell and the Yankees coming to an agreement. Later, in the spring training, RHP Clarke Schmidt addressed the fans, asking them not to lose hope because the team has not landed the two-time Cy Young winner yet. It seems Schmidt and the Yankees Nation connected pretty well.

On Monday, Clarke Schmidt had an impressive performance against the Miami Marlins during spring training. He pitched four innings, and it was almost perfect. Moreover, Schmidt gave away just one hit but no runs and no walks. However, he managed to have only one strikeout. Nevertheless, the right-handed pitcher was able to impress the fans. At the end of the game, Schmidt averaged 4.0 IP, 1 H, along with 0 R, 0 BB, and 1 K. It was quite a strong outing for the team that has given the fans some hope to look forward to.

In 2024, the Yankees are planning to make Clarke Schmidt their fifth starting pitcher. The top four starters for the NY side are of course, Gerrit Cole, Carlos Rodon, Nestor Cortes, and Marcus Stroman. It seems that the organization has faith in Schmidt despite the rumors around Snell. Moreover, Schmidt had a 4.64 ERA last year in 159 innings. The right-handed pitcher is only 28 years old. He had been growing steadily through the terrible 2023 season. Moreover, Schmidt showed promise, and the fans expressed excitement for the next season.

RHP Clarke Schmidt has motivated the team and the fans with his latest performances in the spring training. The team and the fans are eagerly waiting for the new regular season. Lately, the Yankees manager, as per The New York Post, said, “Clarke is not human.”

In fact, Boone believes Schmidt is the most confident person in the world. Adding to that, the Yankees skipper mentioned that it was not just any speculation about Schmidt. Moreover, Boone feels Schmidt is preparing himself in his mind to dominate the league. Last year, Clarke had a shaky start. But then he improved through the rest of the season.
