Juan Soto, the New York Yankees newest generational star, had a multi-homer outing in the team’s latest 9-1 victory against the Tampa Bays Rays. Trailing 1-2 in the four-game series, the hosts came roaring back to split the series and fetch an important win that will boost their confidence and morale going ahead.
That being said, in a 9-1 victory, the New York Yankees offense finally came to life. While slumping veterans had a big night, Juan Soto, one of the team’s leading run scorers also went big multiple times. However, Soto also made headlines for his tense cold face off with Rays Jose Siri.
Juan Soto Responds To Rays With A 37-Second Trot On Series Finale
In a series finale filled with high drama and rising tensions, Juan Soto added fuel to the fire by mocking the Tampa Bay Rays during his home run trot. It all started on Sunday when the New York Yankees clashed with the Rays in Game 3. Rays outfielder Randy Arozarena initially took his own sweet time to round the bases after hitting a home run, whereas Yankee captain Aaron Judge hit back with a 31-second trot following his three-run homer in the latter half of the contest. Meanwhile, tensions spilled over on Monday as birthday boy Jose Siri jogged around the diamond after hitting a 424-foot blast off Carlos Rodon in the seventh inning.
However, Juan Soto took it personally and hit back with an even longer trot. In a multi-home run game, Soto took 37 seconds to round the bases following his second long hit of the game in the seventh inning. However, Soto refused to add to the heated environment, saying he wasn’t aware of Siri’s actions. “For me, just, you know. Hot weather, tough day, try to save the hammies and make sure I go nice and easy,” Juan Soto said. The generational star added that such trots are a part of the game. From his side, he always had respect for the opponents and didn’t mean to mock the Rays in any way possible. Regardless, Soto’s aggression helped the New York Yankees fetch an important 9-1 victory to split the four-game series 4-4. Notably, Juan Soto now has 25 homers and 71 RBI on the season across 100 games.
Aaron Judge Stares Down At Jose Siri Over Uncanny Celebration
Rays center fielder Jose Siri raised tensions in the Monday series finale against the New York Yankees as he took his time to round the base after hitting a home run off Carlos Rodon. The birthday boy took 30-odd seconds to reach the bases, which left the Yanks seemingly unimpressed.
In a detailed clip doing rounds on social media, Yankees captain Aaron Judge is giving Siri a death stare as he jogs around the diamond. Even Yankee announcer Michael Kay got irked on air and stated that such celebrations appear foolish when you are losing. “They’re acting like it’s Mardi Gras in that dugout. You’re losing the game,” Kay said.
