Juan Soto and Aaron Judge are the key factors in the offense of the New York Yankees. However, the two had a contrasting start to the 2024 season. The slow start of the NY side’s captain got the fans really worried. After all, the last year’s wound is still very fresh for the fans and the players. They could not make the postseason in 2023 for the first time since 2016. Moreover, the Bronx Bombers finished with an awful 82-80 record. Clearly, that was the worst season of the 27-time World Series champions in the last 30 years. Moreover, the toe injury of the 2022 American League Most Valued Player was a big blow to the NY side last year.

Aaron Judge started the 2023 season well before hurting his toe at the Los Angeles Dodgers fence. Despite his injury, he managed to hit 37 home runs. But the fans want him to stay healthy throughout the 2024 season. Judge had a slow start, but it wasn’t an awful start by any means. However, compared to Juan Soto, that has not been very impactful. But in the latest series against the Milwaukee Brewers, Aaron Judge seemed to be getting his groove back. Moreover, the Judge-Soto duo was instrumental in beating the Brewers in a dominating fashion.

The Yankees managed to score 15 runs in consecutive games for the first time since 2007. On Friday night, the Bronx Bombers lost 7-6 to the Milwaukee side. After that narrow loss on Friday, the NY side’s offense exploded on Saturday and Sunday. The weekend saw them play two games and score 15 runs each. Aaron Judge managed to hit home runs in both of those games. The weekend saw the Yankees enjoy a comprehensive series win against the team that tops the NL Central division. According to Katie Sharp, the Bronx Bombers have not managed to score 15 runs in consecutive games since 2007.

Hence, they did something last weekend that they had not done for a very long time. In fact, the Yankees have not achieved that feat more than five times in their franchise history, as per Sharp. Before April 27-28, 2024, the NY side did it last on July 21-22, 2007. Moreover, the first time the New York franchise scored 15 runs in back-to-back games was in 1930 (June 15 & 17). It is good news for the current NY side. Clearly, this weekend proved that the Judge-Soto duo is beginning to perform at an MVP level together. Then, as per the New York Post, “The Sky is the limit for what they can score in every game.”

Since the Spring Training, fans seem to worry about the captain’s health. Aaron Judge could not play several games in the Grapefruit League because of an abdominal injury, as per Pat Ragazzo of Sports Illustrated. Hence, the fact that the 2022 AL MVP is beginning to hit the ball well and out of the park is a sign of hope and optimism for the Yankees Nation. Lately, the Yankees captain raised his batting average over .200.

He went 5 for 8 at the plate in the last two games against the Milwaukee Brewers. Judge had a hitless game in the first one where the team lost 7-6. But in the next two, he hit .211 with two home runs and five RBIs. He also had two walks. Clearly, these are good signs at the end of April.
