The New York Yankees hyped up the fans and the analysts alike when they signed ex-San Francisco Giants pitcher Carlos Rodon this off-season. Rodon, who opted out of his two-year contract with the Giants, joined hands with his rival team, the Yankees. Moreover, the club’s top brass showed a lot of faith in the southpaw and termed him the potential answer to the team’s pitching woes.

However, that dream flight crashed even before it took off as Carlos Rodon suffered an injury on his throwing arm. The pitcher already has a long history of health issues, and his addition was always going to be a risky move. Neglecting all those negatives, the Yankees made an expensive gamble move which has certainly backfired. Now as the season progresses, the pitcher is reportedly nowhere close to a return.

Carlos Rodon Unlikely To Return Anytime Soon For The Yankees

The New York Yankees named Carlos Rodon the second starter in the rotation behind ace Gerrit Cole when they signed him for a six-year deal worth $162 million. However, an early setback in the spring training delayed his Yankees debut. On top of that, while recovering from the forearm strain, the pitcher incurred a back injury which now continues to delay his return. As per Yankees skipper Aaron Boone, despite ample rest, Rodon’s back has not yet fully healed.

Hence, the team is considering calling an extra set of medical officials to look after it and find a solution. Boone added that the pitcher is not feeling any kind of pain in his arm or back whatsoever. However, the stiffness in the lower back is causing him discomfort in the windup and positioning. He is a bulky guy and needs a proper windup to throw fast-paced pitches. Hence, for now, Carlos Rodon is not where he is supposed to be and will continue with rehabilitation. The Yankees are even considering limiting his throwing activities until they find the root cause of the problem. Rodon, on the other hand, remains frustrated with the way things are panning out as he desperately wants to remain a part of the Yankees bullpen.

Meanwhile, the New York Yankees fans are raging over Carlos Rodon’s latest injury update. Some predict that the Yankees have made a big mistake by signing him despite concerning injury history. The injury is likely to haunt the pitcher for the rest of the year and would even put a premature end to his season.

I remember the arguments I had with Mets fans when I said this winter I didn’t want this guy because of his injury history. The money he wanted wasn’t worth it. Guess I was right again 😬😎 https://t.co/oB40MfkWpT

Remember we are now looking at mid June

So Carlos Rodon is a wimp. He's Carl Pavano. His back "doesn't feel right". Yeah neither does mine buddy. Hurt is different from injured. If you're injured, ok. But if it just hurts, tough. https://t.co/fRRZF7G2RT

However, such claims look unrealistic considering the pitcher’s current condition. The skipper, Aaron Boone, did confirm that Carlos Rodon has not been feeling any kind of pain. It’s just some issue with his windup. Hence, it does not seem like a huge problem for now. Maybe in a week or two, Rodon can make his way back to the mound. It remains to be seen how the Bronx Bombers will respond to this latest setback, but one thing is clear: the road to the playoffs will be a difficult one for this injury-riddled team.
