Stephen Curry

Stephen Curry was the ‘Splash Brother’ of Klay Thompson during their time together at the Golden State Warriors. But like every good thing has to come to an end at a certain point, the Splash Bros had to separate this offseason. It was shocking and sad for the Dub Nation, but Thompson changed ships to join the Dallas Mavericks. Moreover, he signed a three-year contract worth $50 million with the Mavs. Fans in the Bay Area believe it will leave a big hole in the Dubs roster after they trade a franchise icon like Klay. But now Steph and Draymond Green have to lead the Dubs back to title contention without their 13-year-long teammate cum brother Klay Thompson.

They were an epic trio who helped the Warriors win four NBA Championships in a span of eight years. Moreover, they helped build a modern-day dynasty. But then, the last season saw things get worse and bitter for the Dubs trio as they failed to make the playoffs. Eventually, the GSW organization had to look for a replacement for Thompson. They found it in Buddy Hields. Now, the fans call the Curry-Hields duo ‘Splash Buddies.’

Recently, in an interview with 95.7 The Game, Buddy Hield shared his thoughts on the new nickname he and Steph as a duo have got. He said that there is nothing wrong with the “Splash Buddies” hype. However, he believes that as a duo, both Stephen Curry and him will have to take it day by day. It will be interesting to see how the next season pans out for the Golden State with a new duo leading the way. Curry stays constant, but Hield replaces Thompson. Will the plan work? Only time can tell. Buddy Hield is 31 years old. The Warriors acquired him during a unique six-team deal in a sign-and-trade agreement on July 6.

As per the contract, Hield got a two-year deal worth $21 million. Last season, he played for the Indiana Pacers and the Philadelphia 76ers. Moreover, he averaged 12.1 points and 3.2 rebounds per game. Hield has remained a notable three-point shooter in the NBA. He hits 40 per cent of his looks from three-point ranges on 7.6 long-range attempts. That’s what he has done so far in his career. While Hield seems open about the new nickname, he would also like to earn it, playing alongside the three-point King.

Warriors Will Miss Seeing Stephen Curry And Klay Thompson Perform Together

Stephen Curry wrote a heartfelt message after Thompson’s exit. Klay moved to the Mavs through the same sign-and-trade deal that saw Hield join the Dubs. While preparing for the Paris Olympics, Curry wrote, “Splash Bros 4 life my guy.” The Curry-Thompson duo changed the game forever. They revolutionized the three-point shots not just in the NBA but across the globe. Their playing style gave them the nickname “Splash Brothers.”

And the rest is history. Curry went on to score the most three-pointers in the league’s history. Thompson scored the most three-pointers in an NBA game (14). Previously, Curry held that record with 13 3’s in one game. Later, Steph Curry won two MVP titles as well. But most importantly, they won four championships together.
