Stephen Curry has been the talismanic leader of the Golden State Warriors since his debut in 2009. The real core of the Dubs formed in 2012 when Draymond Green and Klay Thompson came together with the three-point King. Along with Klay, the Dubs talisman became the ‘Splash Brothers,’ who changed the game forever. As the name suggests, they revolutionized the three-point shot. But the biggest turnaround was when the Dubs trio led the franchise to win four NBA Championships in a span of eight years.

Before the trio came into the picture, the GSW did not look like a title-winning club or a powerhouse like the Los Angeles Lakers and the Boston Celtics. Albeit previously, the Warriors had won three NBA championships, the last one came in 1975. However, the trio of Curry, Klay and Dray made the franchise a powerhouse. From 2015 to 2022, the Dubs Dynasty won four titles. At present, though, it seems like the “Dynasty is finished.” Klay Thompson left the club to look for a fresh start with the Dallas Mavericks. Now, the fans might wonder if there will be another dynasty ever again.

Recently, in an interview with ESPN, the three-point King mentioned that what the Warriors accomplished in those eight years will never ever be repeated. Stephen Curry told Malika Andrews that defining a dynasty can “Take different looks.” He added that after 2019, many fans thought the dynasty is over. But then the Warriors won in 2022 again. Steph says, “2022 victory was special because we defied the odds.” Moreover, the Dubs talisman mentioned that the team had almost 12 years of championship relevancy based on a certain core. It will be very hard to replicate that, feels Curry. Moreover, he added that things are beginning to get tougher in terms of keeping a core in a team of the NBA. Stephen Curry noted, “There has been a lot more player movement lately.”

But he credits their trio to stay together for so long. Adding to that, the three-point King mentioned that each of them (Klay, Dray and himself) brought something different to the table. If another team in the future is able to build a core like that perhaps another dynasty can form. Curry says, “We’ll see as records are meant to be broken, and dynasties will come in different shapes inside of us.” Anyway, the three-point King is still not over the fact that his “Splash Bro” has left the team. He said, “It sucks to not have Klay as my teammate anymore.”

Stephen Curry told Malika Andrews that he was desperate to have Thompson back this season in Warriors uniform. Nonetheless, Steph says he has a lot of respect and understanding of the fact that Klay Thompson was looking for a fresh start. However, he could never imagine that it could be a reality to see Thompson in a different uniform in the league. Nevertheless, Curry wants his ‘Splash Bro’ to be happy and enjoy playing basketball that he has done for so many years.

Previously, the Dubs coach Steve Kerr echoed the emotions of Curry, saying, “It would be bizzare not to have Klay on the roster as we have become a family.” Kerr said that even in days of success and failures, we have grown through it and stayed together. Even though it is bizzare for everybody in the locker room to not see Klay, Kerr said it was the best thing for the veteran sharpshooter who needed change.
