Carlos Sainz Jr. has been the only race winner for Ferrari since last year. It has been a complete Red Bull domination since 2022. Moreover, the Austrian outfit has won 43 races in the past two years. Max Verstappen has alone won 39 races. That’s how dominating the team-driver collaboration has been on the Milton Keynes front. On the other hand, the rest of the teams have struggled to even catch up with the Austrian team’s performance. But other than Red Bull, the Prancing Horse has been the most successful team since 2022. Ever since the cost cap era began, the Italian team has won six races so far.

The two drivers – Carlos Sainz Jr and Charles Leclerc, have won three each since 2022. But the Spaniard has been the most consistent, as he won one race in each of the three seasons after the cost cap era started. That’s the best any driver of other teams could do when Red Bull and Max Verstappen have been enjoying an unprecedented hegemony. However, Ferrari will let Carlos go next season as Lewis Hamilton will replace the Spaniard. There have been a lot of debates on the news, as some believe Fred Vasseur might have made a mistake in letting Sainz go.

Recently, in an interview with the New York Times, Fred Vasseur mentioned that he has a lot of respect for Carlos Sainz Jr. Moreover, the Ferrari team principal clarified that he is well aware of the impact of Sainz since last year on the whole team. Adding to that, Vasseur called Sainz “The Architect Of Ferrari’s Recovery” after the 2023 summer break. The Spaniard won the Singaporean Grand Prix last year. In the process, he broke the streak of Max Verstappen and Red Bull. As a result, the Milton Keynes outfit could not have a perfect season staying unbeaten. Moreover, Fred Vasseur credited Carlos Sainz for getting the podium in Monza as well.

Nevertheless, the French team principal added that signing the most decorated driver was a “No-brainer for several reasons.” Hence, it came down to Fred to make a decision, and he says, “The decision was really harsh on the Spaniard.” However, it was lucky for the New York Times that Vasseur stayed cool and explained the decision. Otherwise, there have been instances where he snapped at the reporters or even stormed out of interviews for persisting with the same narrative. Most importantly, Fred Vasseur looks at the situation like this: Carlos did a great job for Ferrari; But Lewis Hamilton will make the future of the Italian team even brighter.

Recently, in an interview with Si.com, Carlos Sainz Jr. shared his view on Hamilton’s switch to Ferrari. According to the Spanish driver, the Italian manufacturers are a great team. Moreover, Carlos guessed any driver at the second half of their career might wish to join the most iconic team. The Spanish driver said, “I don’t know where is Lewis Hamilton right now in his career, but yeah, Ferrari is a great team.”

He fully understands that anybody would want to be part of the iconic “Red Devils.” Sainz could have easily lost it and expressed his anger at Hamilton. But he is handling the situation in a really mature way. So far, Mercedes and Red Bull have not yet made any offers to Carlos. But didn’t he deserve it already?
