For ages, the New York Yankees’ roster balance has been jeopardized due to the lack of a solid left fielder. Brian Cashman, the team’s general manager, tried to put a band-aid on a bullet hole by acquiring temporary fixes. However, the lack of stability and consistency was out on full display in the 2023 season.

In 2023, the left field became a revolving door, with more than five players coming out to test their strengths. By the end of the year, the team had a prospect named Everson Pereira holding the fort. Thus, this off-season, acquiring a left field should be the Yankees’ top priority, and this one Padres candidate is a perfect fit, says WFAN radio hosts Brandon Tierney and Sal Licata.

Juan Soto Will Change The Narrative Of The Yankees, Claims Sal Licata!

Ahead of the embarking of a crucial off-season, the New York Yankees have been heavily linked to San Diego Padres superstar Juan Soto. The outfielder has one year left on his contract and could be made available for the right price. Thus, the Yanks have made a move already by approaching the Padres. Meanwhile, WFAN radio hosts Brandon Tierney and Sal Licata recently reacted to the rumors and couldn’t be more excited. Brandon feels that Brian Cashman has the opportunity to correct years of wrong by landing Soto. He says that the GM’s mistakes have cost the team’s roster balance dearly.

Thus, it’s time for Cashman to redeem himself with Juan Soto. Sal Licata agreed, saying Soto would kill two targets with one bullet. First, he is a young and strong left fielder. Secondly, Soto is an excellent left-handed hitter and has shown flashes of his immense potential in recent years. The radio hosts further added that Juan Soto is the guy who can change the narrative and fortunes of the Yankees. He has the potential to become a Yankee legend. “This is the one move, the only move, that can completely change the narrative…Soto is the guy,” added Licata. Just like any other Yankee fan, even Tierney and Licata are excited about recent trade rumors involving Soto. However, one has to be realistic when it comes to such rumored trade deals. Soto is a generational star, and despite his contract status, he won’t come cheap.

Nothing comes without a price. And Juan Soto will come at a heavy cost for the New York Yankees. Though he has only a year left on the present deal, for a generational star, San Diego won’t settle. Rumors have it that the Padres might ask for top-tier prospects. However, the Bronx Bombers have Jasson Dominguez and Anthony Volpe off the table.

These two stars won’t be made available under any circumstances. Having said that, other prospects, such as Everson Pereira and even Austin Wells, for that matter, could be sacrificed. Anthony Rizzo is also an option if the Padres demand a veteran since they are not rebuilding. Overall, the Yankees need to ensure that the exchange offer remains a win-win deal for both sides.
