American Sports writer and columnist John Edward Bayless, aka Skip Bayless, is well known for his dislike for LeBron James. However, this certainly is not the case for other Lakers\’ players, especially Russell Westbrook. Bayless has had some favorable words for the point guard when he was struggling with poor form and was a target of criticism from all directions. Recently, Skip Bayless has come up with a rather colorful nickname for the 2017 MVP.

Skip Bayless Gives Russell Westbrook A New Nickname!

Having had a difficult start to the 2022–23 NBA season, starting for the Lakers in his first three games. Russell Westbrook and Matt Ryan both made significant contributions to their squad in addition to Matt Ryan\’s outstanding three-point shot. With his new responsibilities for the team, Westbrook appears to be completely re-energized. While watching the Lakers beat the New Orleans Pelicans 120-117 in overtime on Wednesday, Bayless took note of him and gave him a very good new moniker.

Russell Westbench averaged 10.3 points per game in his first three starts for the Lakers this season, shooting 28.9% from the field. In addition to 1.7 turnovers, he has two steals and 4.3 assists to just 6.7 rebounds. He has participated in three games after Darvin Ham moved him to the bench. In addition to 7.7 rebounds per game, Westbrook has been averaging 16.3 points on 46.2% of his field goal attempts. Skip Bayless, a well-known LBJ detractor, didn\’t exactly let LeBron off the hook for his lackluster scoring late in the Pelicans game. Additionally, he seemed to be planning a partial moniker change.

In a Tweet targetting LeBron James, Skip Bayless referred to Russell Westbrook as Russell Westbench. His remarks were his way of criticizing the Lakers\’ management and Darvin for not including Westbrook in the starting five.

While criticizing LeBron James, Bayless lauded Russell Westbrook for doing admirably in his sixth-man position. In the opening period of the LA Lakers vs. New Orleans Pelicans game on Wednesday, Westbrook was absolutely dominant. The Purple and Gold lead 56-44 at the break thanks to his 11 points, seven rebounds, six assists, and 71% field goal percentage.

It is clear Skip Bayless is also against the idea that the Lakers should try to trade Russell Westbrook. In his opinion, Westbrook is doing much more for the Lakers than just warming the bench. He is shinning in crunch moments, even when a star like Anthony Davis and LeBron James have failed. Previously, also Bayless gave Russell Westbrook credit for the Lakers\’ first win season against the Denver Nuggets.
