Sergio Perez’s father, Antonio Perez, once again came out to spread the very positive message he is often used to giving. In Mexico last year, Sergio Perez was trying his best in the Grand Prix. But unfortunately, Max Verstappen defeated him. However, Checo got a second position on the podium in his homeland, which is enough to make his father proud of him. We know that Checo is one of the best drivers, but as they say, The Best Is Yet To Come. Papa Perez also says the same about his son. He believes that the world has not seen the best of Sergio yet. And they will see it soon when he wins the championship.
If you look at the 2022 F1 season, you will realize that after Max Verstappen, only Sergio Perez and Charles Leclerc were achieving wins in the plural. Apparently, the Scuderia driver made himself the biggest rival of Sergio Perez as he eventually succeeded in beating him in the driver’s championship by 3 points. Checo got third as he won two races, one less than Leclerc, but the one reason for his loss is not the one less win, but apparently, it is Max Verstappen’s selfish move taken in Interlagos.
However, Checo won the Monaco Grand Prix, beating his teammate Max Verstappen. And after that, he made himself in between the fight for the championship. Several times, Checo was spotted helping his teammate. One of the credits for Max Verstappen’s spectacular second championship goes to Checo only. In Suzuka, Verstappen would not have won the race if Perez had not kicked off Charles Leclerc. Everyone knows Sergio Perez had played a major role in Red Bull’s success since when he joined the team.
Mexico Will Soon Have A World Champion With Sergio Perez, Claimed His Father
Meanwhile, Antonio Perez Garibay, father of Sergio Perez, appears to be optimistic for his son. Whatever happened last season, whatever Sergio Perez scored is not everything. He still has got many more F1 career years where he will show his best to achieve the best. Despite the problems that made Checo lose his runner-up position, father Perez said, “We have not seen the best of Sergio Perez yet.”
Talking with En Cancha MX, Antonio revealed that Perez spent Christmas together this time. He was with his family spending the new year’s vacation. They went to several places together in order to enjoy the winter break to the fullest. Antonio Perez is indeed a proud Mexican, given that Sergio Perez never fails to make Mexico proud. His father believes that it is not far when Mexico will have a world champion in its hands.
However, despite those claims of Sergio Perez being sidelined in Red Bull, his father has no issue with team Red Bull. Instead, he believes that Checo’s relationship with Red Bull is the best thing that has happened to him in the history of the entire sport. The two years that Perez spent with Red Bull have been the most important year for him. He later said, “The Mexican fans are the best fans in the world. But it is important to never lose that humility because only with the fans there is everything, without them there is nothing.”
