The New York Yankees’ free agents shopping list for this off-season will contain more quality than quantity. To recover from an abysmal 82-80 record, the Bronx Bombers will need to put their heart out to make gutsy moves. Having said that, securing a couple of pressing holes will undoubtedly remain a priority.

Finding a permanent left-field solution should be a no-brainer move. Additionally, the third base has become a new revolving door with the failure of veteran Josh Donaldson. Luckily, a top infielder is likely to enter free agency this off-season, and apparently, the Yankees have already set eyes on him.

This season, the New York Yankees messed up heavily while managing the infield logjam. The unhealthy obsession over veterans led to unwanted instability at third base as Josh Donaldson struggled to stay healthy throughout the season. DJ LeMahieu and Oswald Peraza played musical chairs, but the lack of consistency hurt the team’s overall season campaign. Thus, the Yanks would intend to solve the crisis in 2024. Having said that, the market for infielders is shrinking, with only one pure third base option available, which is Matt Chapman. The Toronto Blue Jays infielder is set to become a free agent in 2024. While the Jays are trying hard to keep him in the fold, the Bronx Bombers are also being considered a landing spot for the former All-Star.

Jon Morosi of MLB Network loosely linked the New York Yankees to Matt Chapman on Wednesday. He says that he is closely watching the New York-based team’s interest with regard to Chapman. They have a revolving door at the third base, which needs to be addressed. While Chapman is not an ideal offensive upgrade, his sharp hands on the field are exactly what the Yanks need right now. “Chapman is someone who posts, and the Yankees need someone at that position who posts,” says Morosi. The infielder is indeed a good fit. He finished the year with .240 batting averages and 17 home runs. While the infielder’s numbers dropped post-May, it’s still better than most of the Yanks’ regular veterans. The Bombers are currently not in a position to be choosers. They need to settle for what’s available right in front of them.

Yanks’ Odds Of Landing Cody Bellinger Increases With Cubs’ New Stance!

Cody Bellinger is expected to be the New York Yankees primary off-season target. However, the Chicago Cubs aren’t ready to stand down as they mulled offering an extension contract to their best offensive contributor. Having said that, recent rumors could be a blessing in disguise for the desperate Yanks. The word around the market is that the Cubs are a top landing spot for two-way sensation Shohei Ohtani.

Shohei Ohtani, the most sought-after free agent of this season, is expected to crack a $500 million deal this year. Needless to say, if the Cubs are serious about acquiring Ohtani, they must shed their payroll and save up all the money for one player alone. That certainly leaves no room for Cody Bellinger, which allows the Yankees to accomplish their incomplete pursuit.
