This off-season, the New York Yankees intend to make a statement by making a splash trade or free agency acquisition. Shohei Ohtani will undoubtedly remain the most sought-after free agent this winter. However, the Bronx Bombers have been realistic of their chances and will thus explore to find the second-best hitting option.

Just like every year, every other big free agency name has been linked to the New York Yankees. Sure, they need reinforcements. But Hal Steinbrenner also needs to stay mindful of his overspilling payroll. Meanwhile, the Yanks have set eyes on a San Diego Padres superstar, and the front office seems more interested than previously estimated.

Juan Soto, the 25-year-old left-handed hitting phenomenon of the San Diego Padres, is a person of interest for the New York Yankees. The Padres want to lower their payroll, and cutting off Soto would significantly contribute to the cause. Thus, the Yanks sensed an opening and went in all guns blazing to prepare their cards right. Apparently, the Bombers already knew about Soto’s situation and had been monitoring him for a long time. Chris Kirschner of Athletic recently made this revelation and further added startling details. Chris added that the Yanks’ front office sent a scout to San Diego to take inventory of the Padres roster.

Unsurprisingly, Soto emerged as a person of interest. Juan Soto will enter the final year of his contract with the Padres. This is a blessing in disguise for the Yankees, who can get him cheap. Having said that, the sacrifice of a couple of top-tier prospects looks inevitable. The likes of Everson Pereira, Austin Wells, Jhony Brito, and Randy Vasquez remain an option. However, Jasson Dominguez, Anthony Volpe, and Oswald Peraza are the players the Bombers won’t budge on. Nonetheless, the fans would get a real picture of the potential trade once the off-season officially kicks off. Neither of the teams wants to reveal their cards for now. But the speculations are strong, and the Yanks look highly likely to make a trade of a lifetime this off-season.

Yanks Alleged First Step Towards Juan Soto’s Trade Dismissed By Insider!

Andy Martino of SNY brought joy to Yankee fans when he shared that the Yankees have initiated the first step to trade Juan Soto. He wrote that the Yanks and Padres have had preliminary talks wherein the former enquired about the availability of the outfielder. However, just when the speculation began gaining momentum, a renowned Yankee insider gave a reality check.

Jon Heyman of the New York Post offered a contradicting update on Soto’s trade status, which left the fans utterly confused. Heyman wrote that the Yankees did talk to Padres about Juan Soto. But that alleged conversation took place during the mid-season trade deadline this year. That deal fell out since the Padres believed they were alive in the playoff race. Having said that, both teams are yet to approach each other since the regular season wrapped up. A conversation about a potential off-season trade has not happened yet.
