Outfielder and starting pitching rotation are the top two holes the New York Yankees would be looking to address this off-season. Owner Hal Steinbrenner announced his intent to form a younger lineup in 2024. Thus, the acquisition of veterans seems less likely as winter meetings commence next week.

While the Yankees have shortlisted a couple of outfield targets for the upcoming free agency, they are falling short of alternatives to fill up the starting rotation. Barring Yoshinobu Yamamoto, the Bronx Bombers have no strong option on the list to consider. Thus, amid a lack of alternatives, The Athletic loosely linked Milwaukee Brewers’ star ace pitcher to the Bombers in a blockbuster trade deal.

In the swirling winds of offseason trade rumors, the New York Yankees have emerged as a potential landing spot for superstar pitcher Corbin Burnes in what could be a blockbuster deal. The speculation surrounding Burnes, the reigning NL Cy Young Awardee, adds an element of excitement and anticipation for Yankees fans as the team seeks to fortify its pitching staff. Corbin Burnes, who enjoyed a stellar 2023 season with the Milwaukee Brewers, became a household name in baseball circles with his dominant performances on the mound. Moreover, his exceptional command, devastating repertoire of pitches, and ability to miss bats set him apart as one of the most sought-after pitchers in the league.

Corbin Burnes delivered an all-star season for the third time in a row in 2023. He finished the year with a 3.39 ERA across 22 starts. Burnes also maintained a 10-8 win-loss record while striking out 200 batters throughout the season. Needless to say, Corbin would add an extra layer of dominance to the Yankees’ pitching rotation in 2024. Having said that, the pitcher will hit arbitration this off-season, which allows the Bronx Bombers to make a splash trade with the Milwaukee Brewers. The club already has a deep pool of prospects to offer to the Brewers. Additionally, a couple of veterans can also be added to form a lucrative exchange offer. Ultimately, it’s up to Hal Steinbrenner and his family to take the final call. Statistical analysis deems Corbin Burnes a perfect fit in the Bronx. But does Steinbrenner agree with the opinion? Only time will reveal.

Jordan Montgomery & Frankie Montas Also Deemed Potential Pitching Upgrades For The Bombers!

Jordan Montgomery, Frankie Montas

Barring Corbin Burnes, the New York Yankees have two shortlisted two candidates for upgrading the starting rotation. Jordan Montgomery, the ex-Yankee starter, guided the Rangers to the World Series title this year. He was traded to the Cardinals in 2022 and later landed at Texas, where he attained success. Now, the pitcher’s success is encouraging the Yanks to seek a reunion.

On the other hand, Frankie Montas is on the verge of being axed owing to his disappointing stint with the Yankees. He was traded from Athletics in 2022, but the pitcher barely stayed healthy. Montas also missed the 2023 season due to an extensive rehab program. But made a splashing return towards the final stretch to impress the front office. Thus, rumors have it that the Bronx Bombers are willing to retain Montas for a couple of more years.
