LeBron James has given his all to every team he has played for in his long and illustrious career. Be it Cleveland Cavaliers, Miami Heat, Los Angeles Lakers, or Team USA, King James has given his blood, sweat, and everything to these teams. He is 38 now and will be 39 after the next NBA season ends. Hence, there are a lot of doubts in terms of how long he can play and when he will hang up his boots.
However, James showed interest in playing for a few more years recently. In the last ESPY Awards, the King mentioned he could give a lot more to the game of basketball. But when he said that, fans expected him to be talking about his NBA career. Perhaps, LeBron James thought that, too. However, Paul Pierce recently mentioned that James can be back in the Team USA colors for the 2024 Olympics.
Will LeBron James Play For Team USA In 2024’s Olympic Games?
The last time LeBron James appeared on the Olympics team was back in 2012. He participated in three Olympic Games in 2004, 2008, and 2012, winning a couple of Gold Medals and a bronze medal. Recently in an interview with Showtime Basketball, Paul Pierce mentioned he thinks LeBron James will go to the Olympics next year. Moreover, it will be his final Summer game. Currently, Team USA is participating in the FIBA World Cup with a great bunch of players on their roster. As usual, Team USA is a favorite to win the World Cup.
But the Olympics next year will be more challenging. It will be greatly beneficial for the side if they had a leader like the 19-time All-Star. Moreover, ESPN’s Brian Windhorst believes the door is always open for the King to appear again in the Team USA colors in the Summer games. Windy believes LeBron James never rules that option out at least until he retires. Hence, American fans can still hope to see King James suit up in the 2024 Olympic games in Team USA colors.
Can James Repeat The Glory Days Of “The Redeem Team” Next Year?
Along with Kobe Bryant, LeBron James was part of the famous Redeem team that helped Team USA win gold in the 2008 Beijing Olympics. Can the King do that again when he will be 39? But it was a different time as King James was in his mid-twenties back in 2008. The great Kobe Bryant was leading the side. Moreover, “the Redeem team” had more special talents like Dwayne Wade, Dwight Howard, Chris Paul, and so on. But the question is, what is James thinking?
LeBron James almost retired after the humiliating loss to Denver Nuggets in the Western Conference Finals. But now he is heading toward his 21st NBA season. He must look after his health as he already suffered from a tendon injury in his right foot in late last February. Hence, the question is if it will be too risky for James to put too much pressure on his body if he joins Team USA next year for the Olympics.
