Juan Soto was surrounded by a group of media reporters at his mandatory media presence ahead of the All-Star game. The New York Yankees generational star addressed a lot of pressing topics, including opening up on his free agency plans. Soto confirmed that he has yet to make up his mind about his preferred future destination. “If I knew the future, I would play the lottery,” Soto said with a laugh. He added that his focus always remains on the game and how he can contribute on the field to help the team win. The business side of things is handled by his agent, Scott Boras. While Soto refused to commit to any team, let alone the Yankees, he did share a list of expectations he has from the upcoming free agent.

Juan Soto explicitly confirmed that he would sign for a long-term in 2025. Switching teams is getting uncomfortable, and he has wished to wear one uniform for a long time now. Additionally, the generational star stated that he would love to be on a winning team. “For me, while you’re on a winning team, it’s always good to be there and be a part of it,” Soto further added. It remains to be seen if the Yankees can fulfil Soto’s needs and expectations. The franchise certainly expects the slugger to hit free agency and not opt for a mid-season extension. Moreover, the Washington Nationals, New York Mets, Philadelphia Phillies, Boston Red Sox and Chicago Cubs are also expected to pursue the generational star. Hence, the Yanks will have to take a leap of faith to go big in free agency to secure Soto’s services.

Later, Jarren Duran scored a home run to add to the American League’s All-Star winning 5-3 lead.
