The New York Yankees farm system has been one of the best in the league. They have special talents budding in their strong minor league system, with some even skilled enough to feature in the big leagues already. This season, the Bombers promoted multiple minor league rookies who didn’t disappoint.

Anthony Volpe made his debut with minimal Triple-A experience, whereas Everson Pereira worked his way up to earn a call-up in August. Amid this, another top prospect is literally ruling the club’s minor league system. He left an impact in every game he featured this season. Can the prospect receive a call-up this season in September? Yankees manager Aaron Boone shared insights on the same.

The New York Yankees are tanking in the East division. With the recent series loss to the Rays, the club has fallen 8.5 games below the playoff wildcard spot, with close to 30 games in hand. At this rate, the Yanks can fall out of the playoff race sooner than previously expected. Under this scenario, the team will be playing meaningless games for a major part of September. That gives them an opportunity to test out some in-form prospects who are ruling the minor league. One top prospect making his case is a 20-year-old outfielder, Jasson Dominguez. He recently got promoted to Triple-A after leading Double-A offensive charts.

Moreover, Jason Dominguez has not slowed down a bit since coming to Scranton. In seven appearances so far, he has gone 11-for-23 with 10 RBIs, four walks and one strikeout. On asked about the prospect’s imminent future and the possibility of a September promotion, the Yankees manager did not rule out the latter scenario. Aaron Boone feels Dominguez will be a good player in the big leagues. His ability to control the strike zone at such a young zone has swayed the skipper. Boone further referred to the prospect as a special talent who will thrive in the majors. That being said, Dominguez is not a part of the Yanks 40-man roster yet. Hence, his promotion seems unlikely for now. But the circumstances can change if and when the franchise officially falls out of the playoff race.

Yankees Rookie Robbed Of Special Feat

New York Yankees rookie of the 2023 MLB season, Anthony Volpe, was on the course of achieving a special milestone this season. The 21-year-old shortstop had featured in each and every game of the team until Sunday. On Sunday, Volpe was made to sit out for the whole game for the first time this year. That robbed him of the opportunity to feature in all 162 games.

Meanwhile, manager Aaron Boone defended the decision, saying it’s Anthony Volpe’s first major league season. Being able to feature in 129 games so far is an achievement in itself. The skipper thinks Volpe handled the grind of his first major league season really well. Having said that, the Yankees’ priority is to persevere the rookie as he is being viewed as the future star in making for the franchise.
