Giancarlo Stanton, a former MVP, signed a mega 13-year $325 million contract with the Miami Marlins in 2014. A few seasons later, he was traded to the New York Yankees. Stanton shined in the pinstripes as his enormous power-hitting ability caught the fans’ attention. But, the 2023 MLB season was a disaster for many, including Giancarlo Stanton.

Big G battled multiple injury setbacks throughout the season to stay on course. However, the injuries caused an adverse effect as Stanton struggled to stay consistent. This season, he is hitting .204 with 21 home runs, 53 RBIs, and .723 OPS in 85 games. Having said that, the 33-year-old is under Yankees contract till 2028. But are the Yanks mulling to witness early departure?

Giancarlo Stanton is still under New York Yankees contract until 2028. He is earning $32 million a year currently. But his performance has not justified his payroll this season. Stanton is slowly losing his MVP self and is becoming more of a liability. Hence, Yankee insiders Chris Kirschner and Brendan Kuty explored his trade possibilities for the upcoming off-season. For starters, Big G has a no-trade clause, which disallows Yanks to ship him without his consent. Having said that, Kirschner and Kuty picked out the LA Dodgers, San Diego Padres, and Los Angeles Angels as possible suitors for the slugger. The Angels will probably lose Shohei Ohtani to free agency, whereas Dodgers stand at risk of losing JD Martinez.

The Padres, on the other hand, are yet to make up their mind on their approach for the off-season. But Kirschner and Kuty advise the team to trade Giancarlo Stanton as a consolation prize. He will definitely not be anyone’s first choice. But it’s worth something. Having said that, the Yankees will also have to step in to make the trade deal reasonable. For that, Stanton’s annual salary will have to be reduced to $12 million. So the bottom line is, will any of the above-mentioned teams take the plunge and bet on Stanton? Or will the Yanks have to bear with the slugger till 2028? The latter’s possibilities are high. But, at the end of the day, it’s baseball. Anything and everything can happen on any given day.

Ross Stripling Recalls Scary Encounter With Giancarlo Stanton!

Kelvin Kuo-USA TODAY Sports

There was a time when Giancarlo Stanton used to terrorize the pitchers. Pitcher Ross Stripling recently recalled one such incident when he felt intimidated by the slugger. Stanton, who was representing the Marlins, charged at him on the mound after Ross made a throw at the slugger. “Arguably, the scariest man in the world charged me on the mound by the name of Giancarlo Stanton,” Stripling added.

Ross Stripling further said that the 6-foot-6 beast approached him and asked him not to mess with him. The pitcher humbly obliged and stood down. But in the meantime, his teammates, Clayton Kershaw and Chase Utley, cleared the benches and stormed into the field. Luckily, everyone escaped unhurt. Having said that, the memory is etched into Stripling’s mind as one of the scary encounters.
