If they indeed miss out on Yamamoto, then they will need another starter for their rotation. A source revealed the plans of Brian Cashman to build a “Super-charged Bullpen.”
Currently, the top free agents whom the Yankees can target, as per Tim Britton and Aaron Gleeman, are Josh Hader, Jordan Hicks, and Robert Stephenson. The NY side will stay in the market to seek affordable options. Currently, the Yankees have Gerrit Cole, Carlos Rodon, Nestor Cortes, and Clarke Schmidt in their bullpen. They let go of Michael King, Drew Thorpe, Jhony Brito, and Randy Vasquez. Moreover, Luis Severino went on to sign with their city rivals, the Mets. Hence, the Bronx Bombers have done a great job to secure their outfield. But the only good thing the Yankees had going in the previous season was the good collection of pitchers in their bullpen.
