The New York Yankees had a pretty horrible 2023 season. They did not make the postseason. But they are trying their best to redeem themselves. Currently, the Yankees are in the market to acquire some quality pitchers. They are a favorite to land Yoshinobu Yamamoto. Moreover, this Japanese ace can really help to bolster New York’s bullpen. He can be a perfect fit alongside Gerrit Cole to be a starting pitcher for the Yankees.

Yamamoto has been the biggest name coming from Japan to MLB since Shohei Ohtani. Hence, the 25-year-old Japanese pitcher has a lot of demand and eyes on him. Moreover, the Los Angeles Dodgers and the New York Mets are also in line to land Yamamoto. Anyhow, the Yankees must not stop looking for pitchers after whatever happens to Yamamoto.

On Sunday, Will Sammon wrote that the Mets will restrain their work in the offseason if they don’t land Yamamoto. They would be happy to bid for talents who are worthy of signing one or two-year contracts. However, the New York Yankees will take a far more aggressive approach. The Bronx Bombers are really looking for redemption this offseason. As per Major League sources, the 27-time champions plan to reunite with Jordan Montgomery. If they indeed miss out on Yamamoto, then they will need another starter for their rotation. A source revealed the plans of Brian Cashman to build a “Super-charged Bullpen.”

Currently, the top free agents whom the Yankees can target, as per Tim Britton and Aaron Gleeman, are Josh Hader, Jordan Hicks, and Robert Stephenson. The NY side will stay in the market to seek affordable options. Currently, the Yankees have Gerrit Cole, Carlos Rodon, Nestor Cortes, and Clarke Schmidt in their bullpen. They let go of Michael King, Drew Thorpe, Jhony Brito, and Randy Vasquez. Moreover, Luis Severino went on to sign with their city rivals, the Mets. Will Warren be a rookie and can expect to play the role of the fifth starter or a long reliever?

The NY side finished with an 82-80 record. It was a tremendous shame as they have not performed so badly in the last three decades. On the other hand, they had one of the worst batting averages. In 2023, the Pinstripes were the second-worst in the league behind the Oakland Athletics in terms of batting averages. Moreover, the weakest point of the NY side was their offense. Hence, they were desperate to sign Juan Soto to bolster their offense. Moreover, the Yankees had been looking for another lefty outfielder in the latest free agency.

Anyway, they received Alex Verdugo from their rivals, the Boston Red Sox. On top of that, they received Trent Grisham in the same deal that got them Juan Soto. Hence, the Bronx Bombers have done a great job to secure their outfield. But the only good thing the Yankees had going in the previous season was the good collection of pitchers in their bullpen. However, the Pinstripes had to sacrifice a lot of these good pitchers to make the deals for Juan Soto, Alex Verdugo, and others happen.
