Gerrit Cole, unarguably, finished the 2023 season as the American League’s best pitcher. He is the front runner to win his maiden CY Young Award, whilst his team, the New York Yankees, missed out on playoffs. Cole, who changed MLB’s perception towards pitchers, is finding it hard to lead his team to a World Series title.

The New York Yankees, on the other hand, understand Gerrit Cole’s situation. With the kind of prime form he is in, the Yanks have another 3-4 years window to win a championship. That being said, Cole cannot carry the rotation on his shoulders alone. He needs support, and apparently, he could find one in an NL Cy Young candidate if Hal Steinbrenner pulls off a splash move during free agency.

Yankees Linked To NL Star Pitcher Blake Snell In A Five-Year Deal!

Yankees
Yanks Go Yard

Blake Snell is an elite left-handed pitcher who has demonstrated remarkable skills and consistency throughout his career. He is a former Cy Young Award winner and has been a dominant force on the mound. This year, Snell delivered yet another strong season by posting a 2.25 ERA and 234 strikeouts across 32 starts. The pitcher is on his way to bag his second NL CY Young Award. Having said that, Blake Snell is set to become a free agent in 2024, and so far, the San Diego Padres have shown minimal interest in an extension. Thus, under a scenario wherein Snell enters the free agent market, the New York Yankees won’t let the opportunity slide, says Jim Bowden of The Athletic.

Jim Bowden predicted that Blake Snell could earn anywhere around $122 million for a five-year deal. Moreover, the St. Louis Cardinals, Red Sox, New York Yankees, San Francisco Giants, the Los Angeles Dodgers, and San Diego Padres were listed as best suitors. While the competition is tough, it only makes sense for the Bronx Bombers to go all in. With only Gerrit Cole and Carlos Rodon having a fixed rotation spot for the 2024 season, they need reinforcements. Snell is the guy who can anchor Cole in a literal sense. Additionally, Snell has a strong track record in the postseason, including a memorable performance in the 2020 World Series with the Tampa Bay Rays. His experience in high-pressure situations could prove invaluable as the Yankees aim to return to championship glory.

Ex-Yankee Dismisses Speculations Of Enmity As Reunion Rumors Soar!

Jordan Montgomery

Jordan Montgomery, once believed to be the Yankees’ emerging starter, is now making an ALCS appearance for the Texas Rangers. Since exiting the Bronx in 2022, Montgomery found new life in the Cardinals and then with the Rangers. Moreover, as the pitcher enters free agency in 2024, rumors of an alleged reunion with the Bronx Bombers gained momentum. However, many believe Jordan won’t be interested as he is not on good terms with the franchise’s leadership.

Meanwhile, Jordan Montgomery came forward to deny those speculations himself. He says that he has nothing but gratitude in his heart for the New York Yankees. They gave him a platform to thrive as a starter. While the media can cook up stories at their convenience, that will not change the fact that he, in fact, has no bad blood with the Yanks. Montgomery apparently still remains in touch with the likes of Gerrit Cole and Aaron Judge.
