The Golden State Warriors dynasty is under imminent threat as they continue to plummet further down the Western Conference points table. Following the loss to the Nuggets, the team slipped to the 12th spot with an abysmal 17-19 record. Needless to say, there is pressure to induce changes in building up the franchise leadership.

Warriors core has been the root cause of the struggle this season. While Steph Curry is living up to his potential, the lack of support from the likes of Klay Thompson and Draymond Green is leading to bail-biting losses. Meanwhile, with the trade deadline approaching, rumors have it that the core around Curry could be put up for sale by frustrated Dubs management.

Raging trade rumors suggest that the Golden State Warriors could part with Klay Thompson and Draymond Green amid an abysmal season. Klay is due an extension. But the Dubs are yet to offer one. Besides, Thompson’s three-pointer shooting percentage is down to 38.4%, three percent lower than his career average. However, the forward continues to average 17.2 points per game. Thus, the team management has enough faith in him to rediscover his old self later in the season. Additionally, Thompson is of great value to Steph Curry. Thus, Curry’s word will be taken into consideration by the leadership group before taking a final call.

Besides Klay Thompson, trade rumors around Draymond Green began gaining momentum when the veteran faced immediate suspension from the NBA following a physical altercation with Jusuf Nurkic. While Green is gearing up for a comeback post-reinstatement, the trade rumors have refused to die down. Many deem Green a liability for the Warriors. However, correspondent Marc Stein claims that Green still remains valued in the Dubs clubhouse. Thus, besides Klay Thompson, even Draymond Green is off the table with respect to Dubs’ deadline plans. Having said that, Jonathan Kuminga’s name also popped up in trade rumors following his friction with coach Steve Kerr over a lack of opportunities. However, Kerr maintained that he talked to Jonathan and addressed his concerns duly. Thus, the club has indicated that Kuminga would also not be a part of the trade plans for the near future.

While Klay Thompson, Draymond Green, and Jonathan Kuminga will keep their slots in the roster, the same does not hold true for veteran Andrew Wiggins. “There is a rising belief among rival teams that the Warriors are increasingly open to the idea of trading Wiggins,” wrote Marc Stein. It’s important to note that the veteran is in year one of his four-year $109 million deal with the Dubs.

While Andre Wiggins has been a part of the core, he is struggling this season. He is averaging 11.9 points per game this year. Moreover, with Draymond Green’s return and rookies rising up to the occasion, Wiggins’ roster spot has come under imminent threat. At the end of the day, the Warriors are going to need to sacrifice a face. And it seems Andrew Wiggins remains its preferred choice.
