Toto Wolff joined Mercedes back in 2013. It has been more than a decade-long partnership between the Austrian billionaire executive and the Silver Arrows. Things really started changing as he joined the Brackley team. Along with Wolff came Lewis Hamilton. The great English racer already was a world champion with McLaren back in 2008. But the German team was planning something big. They wanted to dominate the sport for a long time. But nobody could foresee what was about to happen. A new era began in 2014 and lasted till 2021. It was called the turbo-hybrid era, or fans like to call it the “Mercedes era.”

Moreover, it made perfect sense as the Silver Arrows won eight constructor titles in a row. As a result, Toto Wolff became one of the most successful team principals in the history of Formula 1. However, as all good things come to an end at some point, the hegemony of Mercedes ended in 2022. That year, Wolff’s team managed to win only in Brazil. On the other hand, their rivals, Red Bull, won 17 races that season to get back their hegemony. Since then, it has been the Austrian team that has been dominating the grid. On the other hand, Toto Wolff wonders if he can lead the team’s revival.

Recently, in an interview with the onsite media in Melbourne, Australia, Toto Wolff mentioned that his responsibility as a co-owner of this business is to make a positive and creative contribution. Hence, the Austrian billionaire executive is open to a better idea that can turn the team around as soon as possible. Moreover, Wolff noted that he would be happy to give his input and see “What that would be and who that could be.” Moreover, Toto Wolff mentioned that the problem Mercedes is at present dealing with is a “Physics problem and not an organizational or philosophical issue.” Adding to that, the Mercedes F1 team boss mentioned that they have not swallowed a dump it since 2021.

He said the problem is the team is having a hard time understanding some of the behaviors of the car. In the past, they would have a proper understanding. Moreover, Toto Wolff spoke about his future as the team boss of the Silver Arrows. He said he looks at himself in the mirror about everything he does. If he ever feels that he should ask the manager or the trainer question, then it is fair to ask that question. However, at present, he does not feel like asking that question. But he is also willing to know who can turn it around for Mercedes.

Toto Wolff explained why it is not easy for him to quit his job. He told the media that his role in Mercedes is something that he cannot quit even if he wanted to. Moreover, the Mercedes team boss talked about the big difference that it is not like a manager’s role of a soccer team. It is not like he can just quit his job at Mercedes and go to Liverpool or Chelsea or even to Ferrari.

He can’t just stop the job and then somebody else will do the job. Moreover, Toto Wolff mentioned it is quite unfortunate that he does not have that choice. He is not a contractor or employee who can just say, “I’ve had enough of this.” Finally Wolff concluded that the wheel can keep spinning as long as it can. But he just can’t jump out of there.
