The 34-year-old Mexican racer, Sergio Perez, is in the midst of a nightmare. His F1 career is at stake, as Red Bull is looking for a replacement. The Milton Keynes-based outfit retained Checo despite a string of underwhelming performances. The team was hopeful for a turn around, as they were keen to provide Perez a setup of his choice. However, since his retention during the summer break, the performance graph has crashed down. As a result, Perez is the only winless racer, scoring the least number of points among the drivers of the top four teams.
A number of reports suggest that the Bulls will soon announce a replacement. Liam Lawson and Yuki Tsunoda are currently auditioning for the role. However, despite hardships, Perez recived a special message from his father. Antonio Perez Garibay is optimistic of a turnaround, as he penned down a heartwarming message for his son.
“The Best Is Yet To Come” Checo’s Dad Optimistic Of A Turn Around Amid A Severe Slump
Sergio Perez had been under scrutiny due to a lackluster season. Although the Red Bull technical woes has contributed to his downfall, the Mexican racer is also off-color. The only time he appeared competitive since the podium in Chinese GP, was during the Azerbaijan showdown. The track suits him and he was writing a comeback story on a tricky circuit.. Unfortunately, his face ended prematurely a few laps away from the checkered , as he crashed into Ferrari’s Carlos Sainz.
During the Mexican GP, the home hero was a favorite to turn the tides. But an off beat RB20 hampered his path as he finished last in the home race. The 34-year-old racer was deranged after the weekend, as the chimes of his retirement were getting louder. Checo’s father came to his rescue, posting a heartwarming, motivational message on his Instagram handle. Antonio took Checo down the memory lane, reminding his son of the hard days he had conquered in the past.
Antonio recalled Checo’s karting days..when he was thrown out at the age of 12. Fast forward to 2024, and Perez is the most successful Mexican F1 racer, fighting against all the odds. Garibay was reminding Perez of his potential, and the resilience which he entails. His dad believes the best is yet to come, affirming Checo will become an F1 world champion before his retirement.
Sergio Perez’s Quest For A Wolrd Title: Distant Dream Or Real Possibility?
While Checo’s dad remains optimistic, the probability of Perez lifting the world title before retiring is very slim. Considering his current form, the Mexican racer is struggling to even score points. Moreover it has been over a year since his last Grand Prix victory. Overall the signs are not encouraging, as Perez’s dream of winning a world title appears distant.
