Christian Horner has evaluated Red Bull’s current performance, stating that it is suffering from a smaller operational window than its competitors. He said that while competing teams’ vehicles have a wider performance range, Red Bull’s car is extremely sensitive to temperature and other conditions, making it difficult for both engineers and drivers. Furthermore, Horner underlined the necessity to improve the car’s balance in order to extend its performance window. This change is critical since it impacts the vehicle’s ability to function consistently under varying situations. Despite the hurdles, the British executive is sure that the team is aware of the concerns and is working hard to find answers.

Looking ahead to the next ten races, Horner admitted that fixing these vehicle difficulties would be difficult. He stated that, while there is still more performance to be unlocked, the car’s promise can be demonstrated in previous performances, such as gaining pole position in Austria and just losing out in Hungary. Max Verstappen has identified particular constraints in the car that must be addressed, and Horner emphasized the necessity of turning these performance difficulties into successful engineering and aerodynamic solutions.

Max Verstappen may face challenges at his home race in Zandvoort in two weeks. Helmut Marko, a key figure at Red Bull Racing, has indicated that a significant improvement is unlikely to materialize at this upcoming event. Red Bull is currently grappling with issues that have affected the performance of their RB20 car. With the team on a two-week summer break, no physical work can be done on the car during this period. The team is limited to brainstorming and generating new ideas to address their problems.

Marko explained that the team needs to identify the root causes of its performance issues and rectify them. He noted that the RB20 had lost its balance compared to its performance at the start of the season. Given these challenges, Marko acknowledged that it is difficult to predict how long it will take to resolve these issues and restore the car’s previous level of competitiveness.
