The Red Bull team had a dreamy run in the 2021-2023 F1 cycle. In 2021, the team dethroned Mercedes as Max Verstappen shattered Lewis Hamilton’s dream to win a record-breaking eighth world title. Since then, Verstappen has emerged as a new racing sensation, establishing himself among the legends. However, the RBR domination peaked in the 2023 unicorn season, winning 21 of 22 races. The team was head and shoulders above the rest, winning its sixth Constructor’s Cup, with both the drivers finishing in the top two. Max Verstappen also won his third consecutive WDC title.

However, this was not the only profit for the team, as it generated massive revenue in the season. Recently, its annual report was leaked, revealing the total earnings from the past seasons.

The Milton Keynes-based outfit observed a 10.43% annual growth from 2022 to 2023. Subsequently, its annual revenue jumped from  £278 million to £307.4 million, with a £30 million increase in just one fiscal year. Despite a significant revenue jump, the team stakeholders remained unhappy. The reason behind their dissatisfaction was a drop in the profit margin. The profit declined from £2 million in 2022 to c.2 million the following year. The reason behind this drop was “success-based incentives.” Thus, due to the team’s exceptional on-track performance, most of its revenue was spent on performance-based bonuses. With 860 points in the championship, the team paid  $7.4 million as entry fees ($657,837 plus $7,893 for every point scored).

The report also mentioned the salary of the top two executives, Christian Horner and Helmut Marko. RBR chief Christian Horner received a cheque of £7 million, while Helmut Marko paid £200,000. It was certainly a memorable season for the team, as Max Verstappen’s staggering 95.45 win percentage remains the highlight. The Dutchman came out on top in 19 out of 21 victories by the team, making it a “unicorn season.”

Former F1 Team Principal Predicts “Red Bull Can’t Catch McLaren” As Top Contender For World Title

While Red Bull’s 2023 dream is over, McLaren is on the verge of living it. The Woking squad appears unstoppable, and the defending champions have no answer. Therefore, Former Haas principal Guenther Steiner is backing McLaren to defeat the Bulls in this year’s World Championship.

During Red Flags podcasts, Steiner said catching McLaren is impossible for the Austrian outfit. Especially after the Singapore showdown, the Woking-based squad has emerged as the top contender for the world title. Therefore, if the RBR’s upcoming Austin upgrade doesn’t boost its performance, their WDC and Constructor’s Cup dream would be snatched by McLaren.
