Hours after Red Bull concluded its internal inquiry against Christian Horner, a dossier of alleged evidence incriminating the team principal was leaked. Amid the mounting tensions, Horner has found enemies inside his own camp. Recently, reigning F1 champion Max Verstappen’s father, Jos Verstappen, declared an all-out war against Horner and called for his immediate ouster.
Jos Verstappen Fears Red Bull Getting Torn Apart In Christian Horner’s Presence
Christian Horner’s troubles have only intensified ever since the accusation of inappropriate behavior at the workplace was made public. Even after getting acquitted of all the charges, Horner continues to face the excruciating media trial. In the latest development, an anonymous email containing alleged evidence of disturbing text messages between Horner and the complainant was dropped to several journalists, team principals, and liberty media leadership. While the authenticity of the screenshots is yet to be verified, the Brit has made enemies inside his own home. In a bombshell statement, Max Verstappen’s dad, Jos Verstappen, called for Christian Horner’s immediate sacking. At the Bahrain GP, Jos opined that Red Bull stands at risk of being torn apart if the Brit maintains his position as the team principal.
“He is playing the victim when he is the one causing the problems,” said Jos Verstappen on the Christian Horner investigation. Jos’ comments arise in the backdrop of an alleged power struggle inside the racing outfit. Things have been tumultuous in Milton Keynes ever since the drink company founder’s death. While the Thai majority owner has Horner’s back, the rest want him out, including Jos and senior advisor Helmut Marko. Notably, the entire team refrained from offering any opinion on Christian’s matter until Jos chose to drop the bombshell. That being said, as far as Max is concerned, he refuses to dwell on a matter that does not concern him. He said that he is being paid to race and not interfere in anyone’s personal issues. It would be interesting to see who Max sides with after Jos’ bombshell claim.
Christian Horner Claims Family’s Support Amid Catastrophic Charges
Red Bull team principal Christian Horner broke his silence on the alleged leaked text messages that were sent to journalists and top F1 officials. Horner refused to comment on vague leaks that originated from unknown sources. “They are from an unknown source, which I am not going to comment on,” said Horner.
Furthermore, the Brit added that he has the support of his team, Red Bull, and his family, including his wife. He said irrespective of people’s motives, he is focused on racing. As a team principal, Horner wants to help Red Bull win races and retain constructors and drivers’ championships. “My focus is on going racing and winning races and doing the best that I can,” he added.
