REPORTS: Padres Star Juan Soto Can Reportedly Sign With The Yankees This Offseason

The New York Yankees had a terrible season this year. Some fans call it the worst in their history. Moreover, the fans want an overall change in the managerial and coaching staff to bring a solid change. Most of all, a lot of fans spoke on social media about getting rid of the manager, Aaron Boone. But as it turns out, Boone has got one more year remaining in his contract. On top of that, the captain, Aaron Judge, wants Boone to continue.

And so does a lot of players in the team. Hence, he is staying put. But the Yankees have the money to make big changes before the next season begins. Moreover, they will be keen to redeem themselves after how things panned out this season. As per Jim Bowden of The Athletic, the Yankees can land Juan Soto from the San Diego Padres this offseason. Anyway, the Bronx Bombers need another offensive firepower to bolster their roster.

Yankees Can Be The Next Destination For Juan Soto

Juan Soto

Juan Soto seems like the perfect choice. Hence, Bowden suggests, it completely makes sense that the Yankees trade for Soto as they really need another left-handed hitter. Moreover, if the Southpaw hitter is younger, then it is just icing on the cake for the Bronx Bombers. Juan Soto, Aaron Judge, and Jasson Dominguez, if young and healthy, can become the best offensive outfield trio. Moreover, the Yankees have quite the resources to sign Juan Soto for a long-term deal. Also, the NY side has the option to trade Soto at the 2024 deadline if things don’t work out as well as they hoped.

According to Jim Bowden, the Yankees can offer the Padres a package that includes Michael King and Johny Brito, the pitchers, and also the outfielder Everson Pereira. On top of that, the Yankees can add infielder Oswald Pereza to the trade package. With this package, the Yankees should land Juan Soto. If they get him, then the NY side can shift their focus on improving the starting rotation in the rest of the offseason. At 24, Juan Soto is already an established slugger in baseball. He is exactly the kind of player the Yankees are looking for. If they get Soto, the NY side can also take a look at starting pitchers for the postseason.

Fans expect the NY franchise to win every World Series every season. After all, the Bronx Bombers are the most successful side in the league. However, they have not won a World Series since 2009. After going through one of the worst seasons in their history, the best way to redeem themselves will be to win the World Series again. Can the Yankees do it next season? They can because the NY side has a very strong bullpen.

Moreover, the Yankees led the last season in the category of best ERA of a team’s bullpen. Despite having a strong bullpen, the Yankees managed to win a mere 82 games in 2023. Moreover, injuries to key players didn’t make it easier for the Bronx Bombers. Hence, the team might need as many players as they can to ensure they can maintain balance throughout the season. The Yankees must make a big move this offseason.
