The word ‘sabotage’ has been trending for the past week in the F1 paddock. While it has been used to accuse the Mercedes team, things took a peculiar turn. Earlier, the Silver Arrows camp and other teams received a disturbing anonymous Email. The subject line was ‘Death warrant for Lewis Hamilton.’ Further, the text accused Mercedes of sabotaging Lewis Hamilton’s career, who will leave for Ferrari in 2025. 

The dynamics between the German Marque and Hamilton have been sour since the 2021 finale race. Further, when Hamilton publicly expressed his dismal with the technical team, the situation got worse. Moreover, the team’s inability to fix the F1 project pushed the seven-time world champion to join a new setup. Since then, fans have claimed the Brackley-based outfit favours George Russell over Lewis Hamilton. However, the recent ‘email controversy’ infuriated the team principal, who is now seeking help from a private investigator.

The F1 paddock is usually famous for its speed, excitement, and anticipation. F1 aficionados relate a Grand Prix event to movies like Fast and Furious or Need for Speed. However, the Mercedes team has announced the arrival of Sherlock Holmes on the F1 grid. Earlier, on June 10th, the Silver Arrows received an email claiming to be from a team member. The emotive subject line, a ‘potential death warrant for Lewis Hamilton,’ alarmed the entire paddock. The perpetrator alleged Mercedes of endangering Hamilton’s life with a cold tyre setup. Moreover, the alias sender claimed ‘scorned’ Wolff favours Russell over Hamilton, as the latter is leaving Mercedes. Furthermore, after the Spanish GP, Wolff shared the insights text with the media, claiming it’s upsetting to receive an email like this one. 

However, the Austrian executive was adamant about going ‘full force in’ to catch the sender. Thus, a police complaint was filed on June 12th. A police spokeswoman from the Northamptonshire Police Department announced yesterday that no crime was committed, halting the investigation. On the other hand, Toto Wolff called out all the conspiracy theorists as ‘lunatics,’ claiming they need mental support. Meanwhile, the Mercedes squad is not willing to let the matter die. Thus, a spokesperson confirmed that the team had outsourced the matter to an investigating agency. Hence, the team wants to discover the real face behind such a ‘disturbing SMS. 

Lewis Hamilton Appreciates the ‘hard extra-long hours’ Put By Mercedes To Improve W15 

After the best result of the 2024 season, Lewis Hamilton lauded the extra efforts of the Mercedes technical team. The Briton breathed a sigh of relief after returning to the familiar routine of securing podium finishes. 

Further, the seven-time world champion said the team is getting closer to the frontrunners. Therefore, a victory is close from here as the Silver Arrows continue to improve. Although he professed there are still a couple of tenths to try and improve, eventually, the team will counter it.
