REPORTS: Lewis Hamilton Won’t Care For A Comeback Like Sebastian Vettel

Sir Lewis Hamilton has been the most accomplished F1 racer of all time. He has been the most successful driver in terms of race wins, pole positions, and podium finishes. There has been no one better and no one greater. In the last 15 years in the F1 Motorsport, Hamilton has been the Numero Uno racer. His legacy and accomplishments go beyond the F1 grid. As Mercedes boss and dear friend Toto Wolff likes to say, Hamilton has transcended the sport to another level.

The 15-year long journey has not been very easy for Hamilton. He is the only driver of color, and hence, he had to fight against racism and doubts to reach where he is today. But Lewis Hamilton recently talked about his retirement plans. After the last season, former Red Bull champion Sebastian Vettel announced his retirement. Recently, there have been rumors about his comeback to racing with the World Endurance Championship. What does Hamilton think about coming out of retirement?

Great sportspersons in history have done that, like Michael Jordan and Michael Schumacher. But Lewis Hamilton said that it won’t happen with him. Once he closes the chapter on racing, he can’t imagine standing in the paddock or garage without getting into a car. Hence, Lewis Hamilton feels that when it’s over, it is over. However, the seven-time champion says that he believes in the phrase, “Never say never.” But can he actually win the coveted eighth title? What does Hamilton assume?

The seven-time champion states that nobody can achieve their big goals in F1 without a great car. However, Lewis Hamilton never said that the stop signal would be winning the eighth title. That’s why Hamilton added that he would only know when he gets there. In the case of what Max Verstappen is doing at present, Lewis Hamilton said that all he can ask Max is to keep doing what he has been doing so far. Thus, Hamilton says the Dutchman is doing an extraordinary job at the Red Bull team.

Currently, Lewis Hamilton is a seven-time World Champion, like the great Michael Schumacher. Moreover, the great Briton could have been an eight-time champion already if Max Verstappen had not beaten Hamilton narrowly in the 2021 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix. Since 2022, Lewis Hamilton has been winless. It has been the longest period for Hamilton to be winless. He is 38 at present.

A few months ago, Hamilton signed a contract extension with Mercedes for another couple of years. But he wants to drive in the F1 grid for another five years at least. Only time can tell if Hamilton manages to win his eighth title in the next five years. If Mercedes fails to provide him with the fastest car, then he might have to leave the German team eventually. But he is already old enough to retire, and in the next five years, he will be older. Would he like to race in his mid 40s? Only time can tell the answer.
