Sir Lewis Hamilton still believes in the Mercedes team that they can win more titles. But looking at the current situation, it seems highly unlikely. Mercedes has won a single race since the last year. They need major upgrades to close the gap with the reigning champions, Red Bull. Recently, the Austrian team has won back-to-back constructor titles.

Red Bull has won 15 races already in 2023. They might finish with more than 20 races this season. On the other hand, Mercedes is still winless in 2023 despite a few P2 finishes. But what’s worse is Lewis Hamilton is winless since the 2021 Saudi Arabian Grand Prix. Recently, the seven-time champion visited the factory and suggested some changes are necessary at the factory.

Lately, Lewis Hamilton talked to the Mercedes engineers and designers about crucial changes necessary in the next season’s car. The seven-time champion previously expressed his concern on the team’s 2024 car during the Japanese Grand Prix. Later, he visited the factory to talk about the modifications the Mercedes 2024 car might need. Hamilton finished at P5 in Suzuka, Japan. There was a considerable gap between the Mercedes and Red Bull car’s pace. Hence, Mercedes’s performance in the Japanese Grand Prix made the challenges the team is facing in 2023 more noticeable. Moreover, the seven-time champion feels the designers and engineers in Mercedes need to give their best to get the car in the right direction.

Lewis Hamilton mentioned only the greatest 6 months of development can get his team to close the gap with the back-to-back champions. After talking to the designers in the factory, Lewis Hamilton told the media that he hoped they would make some real quick changes to get to even half of where Red Bull is at present. Moreover, Lewis Hamilton added that it has been a couple of years, and they are still behind their rivals, Red Bull. The Mercedes star expects stellar work from the team’s designers and engineers in the winter. Moreover, Lewis Hamilton expressed concern over the car’s bouncing and sliding troubles are back. It is not good news for the Brackley team. They must still fight for a P2 finish this season. Mercedes must be wary of Ferrari, who are rapidly closing in.

Prior to the last season, Hamilton had never been winless in a calendar year. Hence, it has been a seriously rough time for the seven-time champion. Since last year, Lewis Hamilton is still waiting for his 104th Grand Prix victory. But more importantly, Hamilton wants to win the coveted eighth title. He is 38 going on 39. What if he ends his career without the eighth title? That would be a tremendous shame.

Moreover, the Hamilton and Mercedes fans will be very sad. But Lewis Hamilton raises hopes as he believes the team can close the gap with Red Bull next year. However, the team will need to build the perfect car if they want to win more titles. For that, the Brackley factory might need certain changes.
