Adrian Newey has helped Red Bull become the most successful team in Formula 1 since 2005 in terms of GP wins. He has been working at the Austrian outfit since 2006. The legendary design chief has worked with several great drivers over the years. Lately, the cars he designed helped Max Verstappen win three titles in a row. Moreover, the Dutch racer is on his way to win his fourth title this year. It is because the chief technological officer has designed another superior car along with engines from Honda. Red Bull has enjoyed several one-two finishes this season already.

Although things are going great on track for the Austrian outfit, internally, the team seems to be really messed up. Moreover, Newey is leaving the Milton Keynes outfit as early as the first quarter of the next season. Things have been disturbed on the Red Bull front since a female employee accused Christian Horner of “Inappropriate behavior.” Moreover, Horner made Newey upset last season with his interview with Motorsports.com. But the question arises that how big a blow it is going to be for Red Bull after letting the legendary car designer go.

Ahead of the Miami Grand Prix, on Wednesday, Red Bull confirmed live on Sky Sports F1 that their design chief would leave in the first quarter of 2025. This news comes at a time when the Austrian outfit has been going through a sustained turbulence. After a female employee accused Horner of “Misconduct,” there had been an internal investigation that later cleared the team principal of any wrongdoing. But that did not stop the team environment from getting more and more disturbed. There has been a power struggle going on between Christian Horner and the 80-year-old senior advisor Helmut Marko. However, it seems the odds are in favor of Horner to win more power in the Red Bull organization because the majority shareholders of the parent company backs him.

Hence, there is a chance that they might let Marko leave, too. If that happens, the reigning champion Max Verstappen would not think twice before leaving the team too. Moreover, Max’s father, Jos, told the media after the Bahrain Grand Prix this year that as long as Horner has power, the team is in grave danger of tearing itself apart. Unfortunately for the RBR fans, Jos Verstappen’s claims after the opening race in 2024 are apparently turning out to be true. Adrian Newey decided to leave Red Bull after Horner made him upset. Now, who’ll leave the Milton Keynes team next?

If Max Follows Newey, It Will Be A Fall Of The Austrian Team’s Domination

Adrian Newey wrote in his book that he had a dream to work with Lewis Hamilton and be part of the Italian manufacturers. Then, the 65-year-old design chief can join Ferrari next year to fulfill that dream of his. Moreover, if things get worse and Helmut Marko leaves Red Bull too, Max Verstappen will follow him. The Dutch racer had said several times that he was loyal to the 80-year-old senior advisor.

Hence, with Marko gone, Max won’t stay at the same outfit. As a result, the hegemony of the energy drink conglomerate in F1 will sink into mediocrity as Ralf Schumacher puts it. Then, Christian Horner will have to rebuild the team from scratch. Fans wonder what his plan will be after discussing with the Thai shareholders about the team’s future.
