Juan Soto of the New York Yankees and Pete Alonso Of the city rivals, the NY Mets, are the two best hitters in the game. There have been rumors that these guys can team up next offseason if the Mets sign the Dominican superstar. Then, they can form the most electrifying hitting duo in baseball. However, the city rivals might not want to give up the three-time All-Star without a fight. Hence, fans can expect a big bidding war for both of these electrifying sluggers. Not every time does it happen that the two best hitters are free agents at the same time.

Soto and Alonso will be free agents next offseason. Hence, franchises will jump at the opportunity to get the best offensive powers available. But certain MLB experts believe these offensive powerhouses might sign contracts bigger than the $700 million deal of Shohei Ohtani. The Japanese superstar shocked everybody after signing a record-breaking ten-year deal with the Los Angeles Dodgers last offseason.

According to industry experts, the buzz around Soto and Alonso’s free agency is deafening. Lately, the former president of the Miami Marlins has provided insight into Pete Alonso and Juan Soto’s contract situation. As per David P. Samson, both these offensive powerhouses are clients of Scott Boras, and that means one thing and one thing only. The renowned agent will try to secure the most lucrative deals for his clients. That’s why Samson mentioned, “We know really well what it means.” Clearly, there is admiration as well as trepidation in what the former Marlins president is saying about Boras and his clients. Moreover, David P. Samson tried to delve into the mind of Juan Soto. As per the former president of the Marlins, the three-time All-Star would love to re-sign with the Yankees as he would have with the San Diego Padres.

But at the end of the day, the Dominican superstar needs the record, feels Samson. Hence, according to the astute observation of Samson, only a record breaking deal can help the New York Yankees keep Juan Soto for a long time. After all, that’s Juan and Scott’s ultimate priority, as per the former Marlins president. And about Pete Alonso, Samson feels since he is also a Boras client, he shares the same drive to sign the most lucrative deal. Now, the question is if it will be the NY Yankees or their city rivals who will make history by signing the offensive powerhouses. Moreover, Samson predicts that Scott Boras won’t mind bringing other teams to the bidding war. That way, Boras can push the negotiations to their absolute limits and fuel the bidding war. Then, they might even break Ohtani’s record deal.

Does Other Industry Expert Agree With Samson?

Jon Heyman of the New York Post seems to agree with the former Marlins president. As per Heyman, Juan Soto loves his time with the Yankees, but he said that one month is not enough to decide on a long-term plan. Hence, Heyman suggests that, like any other Boras client, Soto knows how to maximize his earning potential and fuel a bidding war.

Ken Rosenthal agrees that Pete Alonso is expecting a big deal, too. Moreover, Rosenthal said that the current market generally undervalues first basemen. Hence, it would present a challenge for Boras. At the end of the conversation, it seems both Rosenthal and Heyman agree with Samson that it is not just about talent. But the key factor is the agent, Scott Boras.
