The Two-time Cy Young winner might be open to signing a short-term deal with opt-outs. Moreover, the fans might know that the Yankees can’t afford to sign a massive deal right now because they don’t want to face a gigantic tax penalty. On the other hand, even a short-term deal seems unlikely right now. However, the group of starting pitchers looks a bit shaky for the NY side.

If the chemistry between Aaron Judge and Juan Soto keeps getting better, the Yankees will want to sign the Dominican slugger for a long-term deal. However, if the NY side fails to do so, they can use the money for the reigning NL Cy Young winner.
