The Los Angeles Lakers’ 2023-24 season started on an underwhelming note. They are currently seated 10th in the Western Conference with a record of 3-4. Nevertheless, the season has just begun, and there is still a long way to go for the purple and gold to ensure a successful campaign.

However, injuries have gotten the better of the Lakers right during the initial stretch of the season. Rui Hachimura, Gabe Vincent, and Jarred Vanderbilt, among a couple of others, are sitting on the injury list with respective niggles. To further add to the misery, LA’s core member and perhaps the strongest man, Anthony Davis, faced a scare vs. the Miami Heat.

Anthony Davis is arguably the top contributor for the Los Angeles Lakers. Moreover, the big man is currently witnessing one of the strong starts of his career. In seven games, he averaged 23.9 points, 12.0 rebounds, and 3.3 blocks per game. This season could end up as one of the best of AD’s storied career but at the mercy of injury woes. Davis’ troubling injury history isn’t a secret anymore. However, it is a major point of concern for LA, who see their future leader in Davis. For the past three seasons, the center missed 35 games on average, and the same trend will continue this year as well, says NBA analyst Chris Broussard.

Anthony Davis recently strained his hip against the Heat, which knocked him out for the second half of the game. While AD is expected to be back by Wednesday for the upcoming fixture vs. Rockets, the early signs seem a bad omen for the Lakers. Chris Broussard first applauded Davis for his resilience as the latter tried to play through the injury. He also expects the center to recover from this niggle soon. But Chris issued a warning to LA for the future sake. He feels AD will end up missing an awful lot of games for the fourth consecutive year, and that will deeply hurt the Purple and Gold’s campaign. LA have to admit that they are not good enough without AD. LeBron James is not at that stage of his career anymore, wherein he can solely pull off wins. Thus, Davis’ injury concerns need to be looked after.

Ahead of a big clash against the Houston Rockets, the Los Angeles Lakers released their injury report. Jarred Vanderbilt, Gabe Vincent, and Jalen Hood-Schifino will remain out as they are ruled out for the next two weeks. Additionally, the big man, Anthony Davis, marks his season-first appearance on the injury list. For this fixture, AD, along with his backup center, Jaxson Hayes, are listed as questionable.

While Davis is reeling under hip spasm, Hayes is surfing from a left ankle sprain. Fortunately, Rui Hachimura is listed as probable. He missed four fixtures this season due to an eye concussion. Having said that, Davis’ absence is a huge blow to the Lakers’ season campaign. Hopefully, Davis will be able to take the court for a limited amount of time, as earlier promised.
