The Red Bull team is set to lose one of the most celebrated technical experts. Adrian Newey joined hands with the Milton Keynes-based outfit two decades ago. Subsequently, the aero wizard was a key player in establishing a dominant squad. With over 30 years of experience in motorsport, Newey is a valuable asset for any team.
Therefore, it came as a massive blow for RBR when the Briton decided to draw curtains on an illustrious stint. Meanwhile, it was an opportunity for other F1 teams to lure in a talented car designer. No team has managed to capitalize on this opportunity so far. A British squad could potentially secure Adrian Newey’s services starting from 2025.
Adrian Newey Reportedly Set To Get An ASTON’ishing Deal With Martin
Adrian Newey is reportedly about to earn a $100 million salary in three years, double his Red Bull salary. Aston Martin is set to pay a substantial amount to hire the veteran technical expert for its upcoming F1 project. The news of Newey moving to Silverstone has been a hot topic in the past week. While there is no official announcement yet, various sources have suggested a deal has been already signed. Meanwhile, Robert Doonbos, ex-F1 driver, has recently revealed some details of the Aston Martin-Newey contract. In his LinkedIn post, he wrote Newey was at the top of the priority list for the Green squad. Further, he revealed the 65-year-old engineer would earn $100 million in three years. Moreover, according to Doonbos, the Silverstone-based crew was able to allure Newey due to its advanced technology-packed state-of-the-art factory. Ultimately, an official announcement is expected in September, marking the beginning of a new era.
Aston Martin owner Lawrence Stroll has an ambitious plan for the F1 team. He wants the squad to be among the top contenders. Therefore, Stroll is spending on every aspect and trying to hire all the top talents. Another report from F1insider.com speculated a deal between Silverstone and Max Verstappen. However, the Dutchman has indirectly quashed the rumor. At the same time, the British racing squad will spare no expense to change Verstappen’s mind. Until then, the team has a long way to go, as its current performance is nowhere near the top rivals.
Why Ferrari-Newey Potential Partnership Never Come To Fruition?
The Maranello squad was among the top runners to sign Adrian Newey. Various reports from Italian publication houses suggested Newey had visited the Ferrari factory. Therefore, Fredric Vasseur wanted Newey to take charge of the technical department.
However, the deal never came to fruition due to multiple reasons. One of the biggest reasons was Newey’s demand for a high salary with a flexible technical team. Thus, the Prancing Horse delegates refused to fulfil the demands, and the negotiation fell off.
