Red Bull Racing is looking to overhaul the leadership management team of its sister team, AlphaTauri. Previously known as Torro Rosso, the sister teams have had good progress over the past few years. They are responsible for shaping the careers of some of the sport’s greats. But since the cost cap regulation came into effect, the team has struggled with its machinery. As far as 2023 is concerned, AlphaTauri is wandering at the bottom of the grid.

Hence, Red Bull, the owner of the sister team, plans to change the leadership team. Recently, they announced that the team’s principal, Franz Tost, and CEO would part ways with the organization. The duo will be replaced by the top names on the grid, including a crucial one from the rival team, Ferrari. The idea behind the big shake-up is to help the Red Bull sister team breach into the middle of the grid alongside the likes of McLaren.

AlphaTauri, the F1 racing team, has confirmed that principal Franz Tost would step down from his position at the end of the current season. Tost, who has stayed with the team since it was founded as Toro Rosso in 2006, will be replaced by Laurent Mekies, the current assistant principal of Ferrari. Tost has been with AlphaTauri since the team’s inception and has overseen some of its most successful seasons. But he did mention not wanting to stay on the grid for long.

Mekies, who has been with Ferrari since 2014, will take over as team principal at AlphaTauri. The announcement of Mekies’ appointment as team principal is the latest in the series of changes at Ferrari. The team saw the departure of team principal Mattia Binotto from his role as technical director after a terrible 2022 season. Apart from the team principal, the Red Bull sister team has appointed former FIA executive Peter Bayer as the official CEO. With the recent changes, AlphaTauri will focus on getting back into the middle of the grid and scoring some points.

Ferrari’s woes do not seem to end anytime soon. They are witnessing a downfall nobody in their wildest dreams imagined. But they have no one else to blame but themselves. After Mattia Binotto stepped down at the end of the 2022 season, the Italian team replaced him with former Alfa Romero principal Fred Vasseur. However, things went downhill just then.

As per speculations, Laurent Mekies, Ferrari’s veteran technical staff, remained unhappy that the team chose Fred over him for the principal’s role. Mekies has stayed with the team long enough to take over its technical leadership. However, Ferrari’s management believed otherwise and thought of Fred as the ideal choice for the role. Regardless, the Italian team has dug a deeper hole for itself. And crawling back from here will be extremely difficult. Moreover, it is also speculated that Charles Leclerc wants to part ways with the team due to its recent struggles. But nothing has been confirmed for now.
