Things are not going right for the Red Bull team as they hit another blockade in Hungary. On a hot Sunday, Max Verstappen started his race from P3 and was yet again the favorite to clinch the silverware. However, The McLaren duo kept things clean and tidy, giving no space for a divebomb.
Moreover, Max Verstappen hasn’t enjoyed the way RB20 has been behaving since the FP sessions. Thus, the frustration kept piling up, and it all lashed out after a collision with Lewis Hamilton. The Dutchman expressed his anger on the team radio and was heavily criticized for the choice of words. However, the RBR chief had to step in to calm the situation as he explained the mishap.
Christian Horner Steps-In To Contain The Damage
During a radio exchange after his tangle with Lewis Hamilton, Max Verstappen expressed his frustration, claiming that Hamilton had moved under braking. In response, Gianpiero Lambiase, Verstappen’s race engineer, advised against engaging in a radio argument with other teams. Lambiase emphasized that it was best to let the stewards handle the situation, dismissing the idea of bickering over the radio as childish behavior.
However, after the Hungary GP, Christian Horner addressed the radio exchange between Max Verstappen and his race engineer, Gianpiero Lambiase. Horner clarified that Lambiase’s comments were not directed at Verstappen but at other drivers complaining about penalties over the radio. He noted that some drivers might try to influence the stewards, who listen to team communications.
The British executive highlighted the strong relationship between Verstappen and Lambiase, who have worked together for eight years. He acknowledged that there were areas where the team could have performed better during the race, and these issues would be addressed internally. Horner understood Verstappen’s frustration, emphasizing the importance of his direct communication with his engineer. He reassured me that any discussions about improving performance would occur privately within the team. Everyone at Red Bull recognizes the need to find more performance and is working hard to achieve that goal.

Max Verstappen expressed his frustration with the race. He felt annoyed with the day’s events and suggested that the team might not have immediately realized their mistakes or understood the severity of the situation. Moreover, the Dutchman pointed out that being in the car provides a different perspective, and he believed that some team members might not be on the same wavelength regarding the seriousness of the issues.
The RBR starlet acknowledged that he anticipated a challenging race, especially against McLaren. Despite knowing it would be tough to beat them, he expected at least to secure a third-place finish. Unfortunately, the team could not achieve even that, adding to his disappointment.
