Josh Hicks

In Order to make the best rotations this year, the Yankees are trying to meet every possible trade, especially for that of the outfielder Aaron Hicks and Josh Donaldson. The off-season of the Yankees just went into deciding what they needed to do with the already existing players. Now, the trade deadline is on the door.

Not more than a month is left until spring training begins, and the Yankees are still looking for a trade partner. And. as per the Yankee’s behavior so far, it is not much impossible to say that even a night before the trade market end, the Yankees will have these two players available in the market.

Recently, Bob Mightengale of USA Today came out to claim that the Yankees will consume the rest of their contract period of Hicks as they could not see much of the benefits in keeping him on the rosters. The Bronx Bombers are apparently a firm follower of never doubting the aging players. So indeed, it has been a challenge for the team to move those veterans this off-season.

However, taking big steps like trading or releasing those veterans will cost the Yankees millions. Josh Donaldson, at present, owes $29 million within a year, according to the deal he has signed with the Yankees. On the other hand, Aaron Hicks is about to make $10 million in 2023. But, he is left with a more three years contract totaling the amount of $30.5 out of his & years, a $70 million contract.

Why Aaron Hicks And Josh Donaldson On The Verge Of Losing Yankees Contract

So now, the Yankees have got three options, either they will let them play in the spring training. Or if found lucky, they will get a trader before the deadline. And the third option is releasing them, which will cost them approx $60 million. This is quite a big step, but no doubt the Yankees have already taken crazy steps in the past, yet releasing Hicks will be one of the most historic things to happen with the team.

Yankees

Unfortunately, Hick has been appearing in such a condition because of his silence for most of the time last year. He just posted .216/.330/.313 with eight homers and 109 strikeouts. So it was not quite impressive to anyone. Some of the Yankees fans are just very much frustrated about the Yankee’s decision to have him on the roster still. And Josh Donalson, on the other hand, has played good defense at the hot corner. He has posted a plus-7 defensive runs. However, it was his 132nd game, and he just made 15 home runs and slashed .22/.308/.374, so yes, he is on the list of the trading elements of the Yankees.
