The semi-final game of the 2024 Paris Olympics basketball between Serbia, led by Nikola Jokic, and Team USA, led by LeBron James and Stephen Curry, gained a lot of attention. Although the American team won the Gold medal in the Paris Olympics quite comfortably, there were a few nervous moments. They remained unbeaten in their campaign for the Summer Games this year. And why would not they be? The US team sent ‘Dream Team 2.0’ with Stephen Curry joining them for the first time in the Olympics. However, this time, the campaign of the Summer Games was not a walk in the park for the 2024 Team USA like it was back in 1992.
The original ‘Dream Team’ had faced only nine NBA players against them throughout the 1992 Olympics. However, in 2024, Team USA faced 61 NBA players against them in the Summer Games. Nikola Jokic of Serbia and Victor Wembanyama of France could have made life difficult for the ‘Dream Team 2.0’ in the semis and the finals, respectively. However, it was the brilliance of ‘Chef Curry,’ along with LeBron James & Kevin Durant, the three modern-day greats, that helped Team USA Basketball win yet another Gold medal. Lately, Netflix is planning to make a documentary on the journey of ‘Dream Team 2.0.’
Curry, James & Jokic Are Coming Together For A Netflix Documentary
Previously, the team that made the highly regarded “The Last Dance” documentary on the dominance of Michael Jordan & the Chicago Bulls in the 1990s has been planning to work on their new basketball documentary. In recent years, the genre of sports documentary series has become incredibly popular. The Last Dance is one of the best series of that genre. Moreover, the Olympic Channel, Higher Ground Productions, and Words + Pictures have come together to work on the documentary of the behind-the-scenes footage featuring the NBA stars in the 2024 Olympics. The upcoming Netflix docu-drama will feature highlights of the Summer Games in Paris. They don’t have a title yet, but reports suggest that the series will premiere in early 2025.
Moreover, the series will consist of six episodes that will last 45 minutes each. Perhaps the toughest game for Dream Team 2.0 was the semi-finals against Serbia. The reigning MVP Nikola Jokic was leading the Serbian team brilliantly. And at one point, Team USA was trailing by 17 points. However, in the closing minutes of the semis, LeBron James led an unbelievable comeback, with Stephen Curry leading the charge with 36 points. LBJ recorded his second Olympic triple-double with 16 points, ten assists, and 12 rebounds. The great trio of Steph, LeBron, and KD helped Team USA win their fifth consecutive Gold medal.
NBA All-Time Leading Scorer Was The MVP In The Paris Olympics Basketball
At 39, LeBron James continues to defy Father Time, and he proved in the Paris Olympics that he is still an MVP-level player. In the history of the Summer Games, LBJ has the highest number of assists, and he improved that number a lot this year. James won his third Olympic Gold medal, and it was another feather to his illustrious resume. Throughout the Olympic season this year, King James averaged 14.2 ppg, 6.8 rpg, 8.5 apg and also, 1.3 steals each.
The US team won all six games in this Olympics. Eventually, LeBron James won the MVP in Paris Olympics basketball. He is now the only third American player to win Olympic MVP after Manu Ginobili in 2004 and Kevin Durant in 2020. Moreover, LBJ, Stephen Curry, and Nikola Jokic were part of the Olympic All-Star Five alongside Germany’s Dennis Schroder and the French sensation Victor Wembanyama.
