The 2024 F1 season is more about the off-field drama than the racing. The silly season that started with Lewis Hamilton’s move to Ferrari could possibly end with Max Verstappen landing at Mercedes. After Toto Wolff met Jos Verstappen in Bahrain, the rumor mill is working overtime to churn out speculations. Moreover, Red Bull Racing’s internal power struggle added spice to the brewing rumors. Meanwhile, Lewis Hamilton reacted to the speculations during Saudi Arabia GP media day. Lewis says his move to Ferrari has shown that never say never in F1. The silly season is unpredictable. Thus, Max Verstappen’s potential switch to Silver Arrows cannot be ruled out.

Hamilton also added that Max is definitely on the team’s list of prospects for the 2025 season. “I don’t have an extra scoop. “I know that… I’m sure Max is on the list,” said Lewis Hamilton. That being said, while Hamilton didn’t rule out the possibility, he counts the odds of that happening very low. The British driver said Max Verstappen is bound by a contract with Red Bull. Also, it does not make much sense as to why the Dutchman would choose to dump a successful RB series to switch to Mercedes’ struggling forces. Regardless, Toto Wolff seems positive. When quizzed about the speculation, Wolff responded, saying that anything is possible. As a team, they want to have the most formidable driver lineup, and Max Verstappen’s entry would surely help that cause. However, irrespective of Lewis Hamilton and Toto Wolff’s views, the odds of Verstappen’s switch to Brackley are way low.

And as long as Red Bull performs, he sees no reason to leave. “I’m very relaxed, I’m very happy at the team. The performance is there, there’s no reason to leave,” said Verstappen. However, the Dutchman did add that one can never say anything certain in F1 and life in general. And Lewis Hamilton’s move to Ferrari reflects on the silliness of the sport.
