Michael Schumacher\’s Iconic 1998 Ferrari Auctioned For A Whopping Amount!

Michael Schumacher is certainly one of his generation\’s most iconic F1 drivers. He has fans everywhere the F1 is followed. Recently, Schumacher decided to auction his legendary Ferrari from the 1998 season. 

The famous car from 1998 has a perfect winning record, and it is the only car that has ever been utilized more than three times and won every race. Taking to the racetrack in Canada, France, Silverstone, and Monza four different times, Michael Schumacher participated in the race and won each one. A complete three-liter V10 engine with 800 brake horsepower is installed in the vehicle with chassis number 187. A total of £5,272,818 was paid for the vehicle at Sotheby\’s Auction House in Monterey, Mexico.

   

With that price tag, it ranks behind two other Schumacher-owned Ferraris and a vintage Mercedes as the fourth most expensive Formula One vehicle ever sold at auction. His 2002 Ferrari F2002 was sold by Sotheby\’s in Abu Dhabi in 2019 for £5,490,062. At the same time, Michael Schumacher\’s 2001 Ferrari F2001 was sold by Sotheby\’s in New York in 2017 for £6,200,930.

However, Lewis Hamilton\’s 2010 McLaren-Mercedes MP4-25, which was auctioned by Sotheby\’s in 2021 at Silverstone for £4,836,000, is ranked fifth on the list. The 1954 Mercedes W196R, used by Juan Manuel Fangio as he won the championship, however, was the most expensive F1 vehicle ever to be sold at auction. At the 2013 Goodwood Celebration of Speed, it was auctioned by Bonhams for a jaw-dropping £24,501,356.
