Mercedes is scheduled to launch their W14 cars on February 15, 2023. After a disappointing season last year, the team management blamed the W13 cars for their failure. Fans will hope to see the Silver Arrows have rectified their past mistakes. If the W13 car were the problem, hopefully, the W14 car would present the solution for the racers of the Brackley-based team. The fans are hoping to see Mercedes get back their hegemony in Formula One Motorsport. But will the prayers of the lovers be answered? Only time will tell.
Meanwhile, Mercedes’s social media handlers are kind playing games with the fans giving them multiple options for the color of the livery of the brand-new W14 cars for almost a couple of weeks. Recently, the team posted a video on Instagram hinting that the new color of the Mercedes livery for the 2023 season will be turquoise. Fans reacted with mixed feelings. A lot of fans remarked, “Go Back To Black Livery from the 2021 season.”
Why Mercedes Cannot Paint Their Livery Black?
But the problem with this idea is that the governing body, FIA, has made strict rules concerning no political statements. The Black livery back in 2021 was to mark a protest against the hate crimes that happened in the United States Of America. The whole F1 world made a campaign against racism back in 2021. They kneeled down in protest as well as wore t-shirts with the line, “No to Racism.”
But Lewis Hamilton was at the forefront of the protests wearing the t-shirt with the line, “Black lives matter.” The drivers and the teams do not have permission to do that anymore under the strict but controversial guidelines of FIA. Many fans knowing and being aware of the new rules, commented that it is not possible anymore.
Fan Reactions On Social Media
Some fans commented on the Instagram video of Mercedes naming their favorite colors. There is a fan whose idea is that the new color of their cars should be green because “it’s awesome.” A fan expressed frustration commenting, “the admin of the Instagram account of Mercedes does not take us seriously. As the admin is kind of responding to our suggestions with ‘thanks but no thanks.'” Another fan straight away stated, “Hello, admin, you may enjoy seeing us suffer, but you gotta stop with all these teasings.”
There is one fan who commented on the turquoise color option saying, “if it is the new W14 car color, then the car would resemble a Tiffany Jewel Box.” One fan sarcastically perhaps appreciated the Mercedes Instagram admin post, commenting, “the Silver Arrows are fans of mystery and suspense. Hence, they are getting the fans so anxious to see the Mercedes bomb for 2023.”
Again, there are fans as well who truly loved the color. And they showed their love with comments like, “I really wanted the black color to be back. But nonetheless, this turquoise color is gorgeous.” Few others expressed their confusion one said, “Is it the green part of the whole black color?.” In the end, the color won’t matter to fans as much as retaining the title. The season will undergo on March 3 at the Bahrain Grand Prix.
