George Russell, the promising talent of the Mercedes team, gets to 25 today as his team launched their new car for the upcoming season. The young Briton has come a long way to be part of this powerhouse of Formula One Motorsport. Albeit Russell’s first experience in an F1 car came in the month of October of 2015. George Russell drove a McLaren test car after he won the Aston Martin BRDC Award in 2014.
But his first rookie season started with Williams’s team in 2019. He had signed a multi-year deal with the Williams team. The Briton stayed with Williams till 2021, when he finally got the chance to be the deputy of Lewis Hamilton and join the Silver Arrows. After a lot of hard work, Russell gained the limelight when he won his maiden race beating his seven-time champion teammate at the Brazilian Grand Prix.
More Expectations From George Russell This Year
The entire Mercedes team and even all the F1 fans know the unbelievable skills this kid possesses. Hence, everybody, including Russell himself, expects not to get satisfied with the last year’s performance. Mercedes Boss Toto Wolff also once said that he feels Russell has what it takes to be the Formula One Champion in the future. Will he be able to live up to the expectations? That only time can tell. Russell Is Thinking Only About Winning
People are wondering why the Mercedes livery is black again. As in 2020, the gesture was to mark a protest against the police brutality in the United States Of America that saw the murder of George Floyd. But there are lots of fans who wanted the team to go all-black again. The last world driver’s championship came in 2020 for the Silver Arrows, and in 2021 they finished second. Although it was a matter of seconds that took the title away from Hamilton.
This time also, Mercedes has provided an explanation as to why the black color is back. As per the statement, “the traditional silver color increases weight. To save weight, the engineers and the team went back to black.” The entire team is pretty confident that they have fixed the problems they faced last season.
The birthday boy, George Russell, also sounded very optimistic. He mentioned, “we are only thinking about winning and retaining the championship.” What a great day for George as he celebrates his birthday and unveils a top Formula One car. Now the whole team will get down to business. As they will head back straight to Silverstone for the filming phase of the new W14 car.
