The turmoil within Red Bull continues to intensify, leading to a challenging season both on and off the track. This growing chaos has clouded Christian Horner’s leadership, even though the internal investigation cleared him. However, the lingering controversy still casts a shadow over the team. In addition to their troubles, the RB20 has encountered a significant setback, leaving the technical team struggling to identify and resolve the issues.

Meanwhile, McLaren’s rise in form has added immense pressure on Red Bull, further complicating the situation for the reigning champions. The warning signs are clear for the Milton Keynes outfit, as they risk losing both world titles. Amid all the clutter, Max Verstappen pointed out RBR’s technical flaw, which was holding them back.

Max Verstappen expressed his frustration over Red Bull’s sudden drop in performance, emphasizing the drastic changes the team needs to make to regain competitiveness. He pointed out that within six to eight months, Red Bull went from having a dominant car to one that is nearly undrivable, highlighting his confusion and urging the team to make significant adjustments to resolve the issues. Looking ahead to the upcoming races in Baku and Singapore, Verstappen showed little optimism, noting that Red Bull’s struggles are consistent across different tracks. He mentioned that the team performed poorly last year at Marina Bay, but with their current issues, the challenges seem universal.

Some have speculated that Red Bull’s recent struggles are linked to Adrian Newey’s decision to step back from the team, but the Dutchman dismissed this notion. While he admitted he would have preferred Newey to stay, he stressed that the car’s transformation from one of the most dominant in history to its current state was unrelated to Newey’s departure. He explained that while he’s not an engineer, he has communicated all the feedback he can provide, and now it’s up to the team to address the problems.

Moroever, the RBR starlet acknowledged the difficulties ahead, explaining that while the issues are apparent, fixing them quickly won’t be easy. He remains hopeful that Red Bull can make the car more drivable again with the right changes.

Christian Horner Bemoans Red Bull’s RB20 Misstep

Christian Horner recently addressed Red Bull’s struggles, pointing out the need to examine various aspects of the car. He highlighted a key balance issue that prevents the drivers from fully committing during corner entries. This instability at the car’s rear has forced the team to make compromises at the front, resulting in understeer and excessive tire wear.

The British executive compared Red Bull’s current design to McLaren’s, noting that McLaren’s car appears to be a simpler evolution of last year’s model. In contrast, Red Bull might have overcomplicated their design, and simplifying certain elements could be the key to resolving the performance issues and improving the car’s overall balance.
